Solis Marine Joins Trade Mission to Rio de Janeiro Solis Marine recently participated in a trade mission organized by the UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and Santander UK. The mission focused on meeting key players in the Brazilian offshore oil and gas sector, with an emphasis on decommissioning. Norwegian #energy giant Equinor has started the ball rolling to develop its Bay du Nord #oil project off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador by awarding preliminary front-end #engineering design (pre-FEED) work to BW Offshore and Altera Infrastructure. The Canadian #project includes a uniquely designed #FPSO hull for harsh environments, design work by Salt Ship Design AS, and is expected to be among the world’s lowest-carbon projects per barrel of oil. According to the article the USD 12-billion project was approved with the historic requirement to reach #netzero #emissions by 2050. "#SubseaIntegrationAlliance, comprising #OneSubsea and #Subsea7, has won a long-term strategic agreement with Norway’s state-owned energy giant #Equinor, paving the way for collaboration to begin immediately on early, joint concept studies for two giant oil projects." These are frontier projects: 1. Wisting: located over 300 km north of Hammerfest in the Barents Sea (Arctic). Final Investment Decision (#FID) was postponed in Q4 2022 due to cost estimate increases, amongst other factors. 2. Bay du Nord: located offshore Newfoundland & Labrador (off Canada's east coast) in the Flemish Pass basin, about 500 km northeast of St John's. The project was postponed in May 2023 due to cost pressure. "Thanks to the deal signed by #Equinor and #SubseaIntegrationAlliance in Stavanger work on the maturation of subsea scope will be able to start immediately at the #Wisting field offshore Norway and the #BayDuNord project located off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 🇵🇱Poland’s Gaz-System has obtained a building permit for the offshore portion of the floating storage and regasification unit #FSRU that will form part of the country’s #LNG terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk. ℹ️ 👉 The permit issued by the Pomeranian Province covers the offshore portion and the infrastructure needed for the FSRU’s operation and the approximately three-kilometer-long offshore pipeline connecting the terminal with the onshore system. The unit will be permanently moored to the jetty, with commissioning scheduled to start in late 2027 or early 2028. 👉The project also entails building 250 kilometers of onshore pipelines between Gdańsk and Gustorzyn to transport LNG regasified onboard the FSRU across Poland.
