🌟 Sharing Important Topics for Our Binational Community at New Comienzos 🌟
Greetings to all our New Comienzos members!
We want to bring to your attention some important topics that are impacting our binational community on both sides of the border.
Call Center Industry in Mexico:
We highlight the crucial role that the call center industry in Mexico is playing by providing significant job opportunities for our community upon returning to our country. However, it's the only industry that has opened its doors to our community so far.
Talent Underutilization:
We regret that professionals in our community with experience in teaching English have not had access to opportunities to become teachers in the Mexican education system (SEP). We recognize the importance of harnessing this valuable local talent and continue to await recognition from our government.
Challenges with the Federal Government:
Despite operating as a civil association for over 9 years, we continue to face significant challenges as we are treated as a business by the Federal Government. We continue to operate with our own resources, without government support.
New Comienzos Basecamp:
We highlight our Basecamp where over 100 individuals have been connected with digital technologies to access scholarships, resources, certifications, and vital information.
Support for Social Projects:
In 2024, we are sponsoring 11 individuals from our community to bring their social projects to life. We believe in the transformative power of community initiatives.
Free English Classes:
In collaboration with Duolingo, we offer free English classes to improve the job and educational opportunities for our community.
Civic Engagement:
We emphasize the importance of civic participation in the upcoming elections in both Mexico and the United States. It is essential that we exercise our right to vote and make our voices heard.
SB4 Law in Texas:
We raise awareness about the SB4 law in Texas, which criminalizes undocumented migrants in the state. We are committed to defending the rights and dignity of our community.
Let's continue to stay informed, united, and committed to our noble cause! Together, we can overcome these challenges and build a better future for all.

"Meet the Visiting Professor" is an opportunity to introduce to you the Visiting Professors who collaborate with us, and to find out more about how they engage with TRC. Today, Prof. Brian EM King shares his extensive career journey with us, and despite the many places he has lived in and worked, he still considers "Auld Reekie" as his hometown. Now, who knows what or where Auld Reekie is? (don't cheat, internet search is not allowed 😉). Try your luck in the comments and if you are curious to find out if you have guessed well, go to the blog and read about Brian and his connection to the TRC here at ENU:
