Exciting new research published in RESNA’s Assistive Technology Journal offers a strength-based framework for improving access to Assistive Technology (AT) at a national level. Using an action research approach and the UN Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disability as a reference, the study identifies seven guiding principles for effective policy processes and five crucial building blocks for AT policy development. This IDEAL PROCESS framework provides a systematic approach to developing context-sensitive AT policies, ultimately enhancing access to crucial assistive technologies. #AssistiveTechnology @RESNA @TandFonline https://lnkd.in/gVu4-VQW

🚨 EN 301 549 is a European standard for digital accessibility that mandates accessibility for people with disabilities in information and communication technologies. The Commission intends for this standard to be revised to include accessibility requirements for electronic communication services with regard to Real-Time Text (RTT) and Total Conversation (TC). In Europe, RTT is primarily used as Over-the-Top (OTT) apps by people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing. The new standards should be fully implemented by PSAPs by 2027 at the latest, with the possibility that Native RTT will be required. Below, you can see a list of European Countries that offer RTT and TC through OTT apps, either as Peer-to-Peer calls, through Relay Services, or for Emergency Services. In the table, you can also see the locations where nWise is the RTT provider. If you want to read more about RTT, visit: https://nwise.se/ To read more about the implementation of RTT and TC in Europe, read this document from the European Emergency Number Association (EENA): https://lnkd.in/e3ZgQgPH #Accessibility #EmergencyServices #RelayServices #DeafCommunity #Inclusion #Technology
