The Bristol Technical Education Center #Welding shop has received a $25,000 grant through the American Welding Society Workforce Grant! 👏 Using the grant, the Bristol TEC shop upgraded their machinery by acquiring four new welding machines and a precision layout #fabrication table with the necessary tooling. They are also currently working to create a TIG welding lab with four additional welding booths. This upgrade will allow for an increase in student enrollment and increase the number of students able to train and prepare for the local welding industry. With the wealth of welding jobs in all aspects of the industry residing right in Connecticut, these additions to the Bristol TEC shop will better equip the school to provide the necessary training and increase training hours for current and future students!

Not only did these rookies tackle 3/8" open root groove welds (yeah, the tough ones), they straight-up aced their bend tests. No defects. Zero. Nada. Look, anyone who's ever picked up a welding gun knows that's no small thing. Most folks would be happy just to get their arc strikes looking decent in their first semester. But here's what gets me fired up - these students didn't just pass some classroom test. They crushed the same quality checks that keep bridge welders employed. The real-deal tests that make shop foremen nod their heads and reach for the hiring paperwork. The wild part? Few months back, these same students were probably wondering which end of the welding gun to hold. Now they're laying down perfect beads and getting ready to jump into sheet metal fab.
