The other reality is that without adequate training, your organization will not retain it’s best talent. Organizations seeking excellence need to be willing to invest in a well qualified workforce. #PeopleFirst #Upskill #RetainTalent

“Be one with the your lightsaber” I use that line in most of my training to emphasise the importance of getting to know your machine. It becomes an extension of yourself whilst at work! Pivot points, reference points we spend most time working out what works best for each individual so they’re competent on the machine. #forkliftoperator #forklifttraining #forkliftsafety #forklifttruck #counterbalance

· Good mobility is crucial for training. Without a good enough mobility, you can’t perform your movement with a proper range of motion and it may cause pain or injuries. That is why training at least the principal articulations is primordial. Here's the link to my program : https://lnkd.in/eZsZ_MvV

I’ve called this “Training a Passive Indication with Bradley”, but I’m not sure we are there yet. But, progress has been made, which is why I decided to post this video which is just short of 3 minutes long. Training dogs is not always straight forward and training a passive indication is definitely not always easy. Social media is full of video clips showing dogs giving the perfect indication, but we never see how they got there, we only see the end result which is almost always a polished trained final response. No two dogs are the same and you should always train the dog in front of you. Sometimes different approaches are required, one size doesn’t fit all. Bradley is a search machine, he loves to search, he loves to retrieve and he loves a tennis ball. Training him with food is not option, he’s not interested. In the first half of this video you’ll see that Bradley has no issues identifying the target box, but he does have issues with his indication. Biting, scratching and using his paws have all played a part in Bradley’s indication training. How have I tried to rectify these issues and develop an no instructive indication. Well, it’s been a hard two weeks and I wouldn’t say I’ve cracked it yet, but we’ve made huge progress, here’s how. ⦿ Using the lead to gently pull Bradley away from the box ⦿ Throwing in a tennis ball without marking with a clicker ⦿ Using a clicker to mark followed by tennis ball reward ⦿ Location of boxes (placing in centre of room and placing up against a wall ⦿ Quick marking before intrusive behaviour starts ⦿ Using some verbal communication, but not “NO” The reason I use these black boxes with new “green” dogs is because the dog can place their whole nose into the box and as you’ll see, the dog can keep its nose inside the box to give a lovely indication. Later on it training I will switch to other equipment for imprinting. This indication training starts off messy, but this is generally what happens when training dogs and my poor timing doesn’t help at times. I wanted to show that everything doesn’t always go to plan and to get a polished TFR for social media, you need to put some hard work in and make mistakes, which are not always pretty. https://lnkd.in/e7kPZ8aW

If your training is consistently causing all the injuries, nags and tweaks that you spend all your time trying to fix during your training sessions, then you’re not really training. Re-read that before you miss the forest for the trees. Now think about that. Training is supposed to expand your capacities and build your body not to decrease your capacities and break your body. Sport is supposed to accommodate you, not your training. But now people are accommodating to both sports and their strength and conditioning. And since I know how the Internet works. Of course, when you are chasing high end performance, you’re walking a razor blade like a tight rope and trying not to get cut or fall off. So of course there will be times wgere demand exceeded capacity and people get injured, but that should be a rare occurrence in training.
