Internship Update: New Horizons As my time in both Customer Zero and SOC rotations at Netskope come to a close, I am compelled to reflect on the knowledge acquired through these experiences. Engaging with Netskope at the foundational level within my customer zero rotation has significantly enhanced my understanding of its inner workings. I would like to thank Robert Butler and Stevan Pierce, as well as the entire customer zero team, for their invaluable guidance and mentorship. In the SOC, I have gained invaluable insights into the security challenges confronting the organization. Triaging and resolving issues firsthand has given me a unique perspective as I aspire to thrive in the realm of security. A shoutout and thanks to Jared Hawkins and Ally Frame for their mentorship and support throughout these past three weeks. I am excited for the transition to the Solutions Engineer phase of my internship and I am keen to further refine my business acumen and technical expertise by learning from established professionals and leaders in the field. Today is National Intern Day and a Throwback Thursday. To commemorate, I found an old video that I haven't shared before: My first step into my career at Cisco began back in 2016 as a Security Operations Center (SOC) intern. I didn't have any prior knowledge of what Cisco did, nor did I have a background in cybersecurity. However, I wanted to make the most of my summer internship. This video serves as a glimpse of what that summer consisted of. To all the interns out there: make the most of your experience, network with others, make mistakes, ask the "stupid" questions, and don't be afraid to raise your hand—you never know what opportunities will come your way. Even after 7 years at Cisco, I am extremely thankful for what this internship provided me and still remember that summer as if it were yesterday.
