Nexi Group have recorded an 88% INCREASE in the value of in-store mobile payments and smartwatch transactions in Italy 📲 🇮🇹 📈 💶 Reesearch by the Innovative Payments Observatory of the School of Management of the Polytechnic of Milan also showed that mobile-based payments increased by 78% overall in Italy last year, reaching a value of 29 BILLION euros 👨💻 Commenting on the latter point, Emiliano Imbimbo, Head of Digital VAS of Nexi Italia, said: “Nexi has seen further significant increases in the number of innovative card-based payments made by consumers in Italy over the last couple of years. Even more interesting, a growing number (33% and 23% respectively) are leaving their cards at home and opting for their phone or wearable device for transactions. However, let's not lose sight of the fact that a significant section of society is still trying to catch up with this technological leap. Plus, concerns about the potential impact of contactless payments on effective budgeting and spending control are very real.
