So yes - this is me and my car, nicknamed 'Penny the Porsche'.
Anyone that knows me, knows I love cars and it has been a dream to own a Porsche.
Only those that know me really well, will also know that I spent most of my 20's at Meremere drag strip with an avid love of fast cars and performance racing. I guess you are all among those that know me very well now...
This acquisition was the ultimate nod to both my passion for design and sustainability. In relation to design, I selected every element of the car; the paint colour, the stitching in the seats, the colour of brake calipers, the wheels, the interior detailing, colour blocked wing mirrors - you name it, I chose it.
From a sustainability perspective, my passion here meant that I could no longer purchase a petrol vehicle. Others will have their own view on EV batteries and all are valid, but for my journey and the amount of kms I travel, not purchasing petrol was an immediate carbon reduction I could make personally. And when I stop driving this car in 50 years :) hopefully there will be a solution for EV batteries.
This car certainly tested my patience, it took over a year to arrive, I tracked its ship all the way to New Zealand. There was only one person more excited for its arrival than I, and that was my father, who unfortunately passed away days before its arrival. However I did collect it on the morning of his funeral. All pictures of the hearse had Penny in the background, so he too got his day with the Porsche.
Thanks Porsche for an incredible driving experience.
