What's the length of the mirror? You need to see yourself fully just half your height. Here's why. A mirror bounces of light at the same angle as it hits it. Your eyes perceive this light as coming in a straight line, and you see your image behind the mirror at the same distance. But not all these rays reach your eyes. From the toes only this ray reaches your eyes, and from the top this one. From any other point, the ray reaching your eye hits the mirror in this region. So you only need. This part of the mirror. Now what's this length? Since these two angles are equal, by symmetry, these two lengths must also be equal. Similarly, in these two triangles, these two lengths must be equal. So the length of the mirror required must be half of your total height. And if the mirror is positioned correctly, it doesn't even matter how far or close you stand to the mirror.

Did you know you can easily perform basic angle math to get a vector direction? This math is mostly used to rotate a point by a angle. You don't need to worry about it as every engine already does it for you, but it's always fun to explore how it works 😁. #math #gamedev
