Join us for the exhibition preview of ‘Frank Auerbach: Starting Again’ at Palazzo da Mosto in Venice, tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 April, 9–11 am. Presented by art dealer Max Levai, the exhibition brings together a curated selection of 11 rarely-seen paintings spanning five decades of Auerbach’s career (1960s to the 2010s), providing a succinct overview of his hermit-like artistic practice and favorite subjects. The exhibition will take place at the historical Palazzo da Mosto, a magnificent 17th-century private residence that will be open to the public for the occasion. ‘Starting Again’ marks Frank Auerbach’s grand return to Venice after his participation at the 1986 Art Biennale and will be accompanied by an essay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Hilton Als. Address: Calle dei Muti S. Polo, 1866, 30125 Venezia VE, near Rialto Bridge. 📸: Frank Auerbach, Reclining Head of Julia III, 1993. Copyright the artist. Two suggestions for visiting an art exhibition for those in Hamburg, both art exhibitions at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, both art exhibitions revolving with their underlaying ideas, around the concept of double perspective and double vision, which some might find it interesting:), (for more details, see the links bellow): https://lnkd.in/d8J9_Nre https://lnkd.in/dXZJect9

Artist Talks: Sunday, Sept. 22 | 2:00 PM | Trees, Water, Sun, Dwellings | Karen Klee-Atlin | Just Another Thought | Chaloupka, Descoteaux, Hefland | https://lnkd.in/gbaXDZqr | Just Another Thought | Chaloupka, Descoteaux, Hefland | This exhibition was originally meant to be Jacques Descoteaux’s solo exhibition. While the work of the three artists is significantly different, it seems to fit nicely on a continuum—from realism in Carole Chaloupka’s sculptures, to Jacques Descoteaux’s semi-abstract work, to Victor Hefland’s abstract sculptures. What seemed at first to be just another thought, eventually became reality – Just Another Thought. Trees, Water, Sun, Dwellings | Karen Klee-Atlin | My work centers on the natural world particularly where it meets with human disruption. To that end, I’m very interested in documenting the points where there may be a clash between conservation and commerce. This tension can be felt through the colours I use and through my choice of imagery.

Explore Ben Sanderson's exhibition, OUROBOROS, where art transforms into a spatial experience. The gallery becomes a tapestry of temporary rooms crafted from repurposed paintings. Each piece holds intentional 'fronts' and serendipitous 'backs,' playing distinct roles in this artistic narrative. Sanderson invests meticulous energy into the 'fronts,' featuring top-stitched, colour-block patterns housing smaller paintings. A deliberate process unfolds as selected artworks find their place within collaged walls, creating a visual symphony of thoughts. Conversely, the 'backs' reveal a fully improvised artistic journey, surprising even the creator. They embody the repository of subconscious thoughts, akin to crawling through a hedge of creativity. Unplanned and spontaneous, the backs hold fragments that resist categorization. It's a dance of confusion and clarity, where fronts emerge from old backs, and backs are born from old fronts. Ben Sanderson’s OUROBOROS exhibition invites you to explore this intricate interplay between intention and spontaneity, where every piece tells a unique story. Dive into the realm of transformed art, where the frontiers of creativity are blurred, and the unexpected takes centre stage. Fubon Art Museum in Taipei is for rich folks Someone commented on the cable report aired the morning of June 4, 2024 regarding the newly-opened Fubon Art Museum in Taipei that the Monet exhibit being pathetic in scope. The report exposes the admission of NT$1,200 charged by said art gallery, as does the attached report of June 3, 2024, that is far more expensive than that at the most famous art galleries globally. The gallery in Taipei even sells cookies for NT$3,500. Another Taiwanese said in a FB post that the Fubon gallery is for rich folks. The spokeswoman for the gallery says the building is designed by famous architects for a princely sum and the admission price is based on the user-pays principle. The simple fact is that the greatest artist ever--Mother Nature--exhibits her masterpieces across the world for free, including the 4 shown in southern Thailand and on the west coast of Canada. Why pay to see manmade artworks that are ho-hum in comparison? #FubonArtMuseumInTaipeiIsForRichFolks https://lnkd.in/g6DzaZvUu

“A tide is a very long wave honours the forces that push and pull bodies towards one another. What’s compelling about the hang of A tide is a very long wave is how each work appears as tide-bound; that is, each spill into the other from various coordinates. In the patterned and unpatterned flows between each work, this gives way to a dynamic interstitial zone. In concert, the works gives a visual language to the ebb and flow of the tide. A tide is a very long wave, to me, is the kind of exhibition that collapses the paradox of movement and stillness. Indeed, it finds movement in stillness. To be buoyed yet drift with the current; to hold the space between; to grasp the ephemeral; to be steadied and moved; to think “with” the tide as a way through. These are the currents of A tide is a very long wave.” Read June Miskell’s review of my exhibition “A tide is a very long wave” at SYRUP Contemporary for Memo. https://lnkd.in/gvYZFVyX
