"Nevermore, nevermore, neverrrrmoreeeee,"... Thom Browne's Edgar Allan Poe-inspired runway spectacle just closed New York Fashion Week, and it was my favorite show of the season. Here's why: 1. #CompellingStorytelling: Browne's Fall/Winter 2024 collection wasn't just about his beautiful clothes; it was a mesmerizing narrative brought to life on the runway. From start to finish, the show wove a tale that captivated the audience and left them wanting more. 2. #ImmersiveExperience : Browne didn't just showcase his designs; he transported his audience into his world. Every detail, from the haunting set design to the meticulously choreographed movements of the models, contributed to an environment that felt deeply personal and transformative. 3. #BoldCreativity: Browne's daring creativity sets him apart as a designer and inspires others to think differently while elevating the industry as a whole. This was more than a fashion show; it was an unforgettable journey. It resonated deeply with me because it perfectly encapsulated the essence of what we aim to achieve at Jannan Studios: We don't just produce events, we create shared experiences where every detail is meticulously curated to tell a story, evoke emotions, and transport guests on an immersive adventure through time, culture, and imagination. What was your favorite moment from New York Fashion Week? The 2025 #MetGala theme, “Superfine Tailoring: Black Style,” will explore the deep cultural significance of Black sartorial elegance and the Black Dandy. This theme extends far beyond fashion—it's an examination of how Black style, particularly menswear, has shaped global narratives, standing as a symbol of resilience, expression, and identity. As mentioned in Vogue’s initial announcement, the #CostumeInstitute exhibit is inspired by Monica Miller's Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, and will illustrate how Black individuals moved from being enslaved and commodified as symbols of wealth to becoming autonomous, self-fashioning global trendsetters. For centuries, fashion has been a means for Black individuals to assert personal style and reclaim space in industries that historically excluded them. From the Harlem Renaissance to André Leon Talley’s monumental legacy, Black Dandyism pushes boundaries while being deeply rooted in political and social history. The craftsmanship, ensembles, and garments of the last two centuries tell a story not only of fashion but also of resistance and redefinition. Conversations have already begun about how the gala’s attendees and designers will interpret such a culturally significant theme. I’m optimistic that this year’s event will spark essential discussions on representation in fashion and inspire a new wave of menswear that fuses art, culture, and Black history – that is long overdue. I encourage everyone to watch the The National Arts Club discussion with Monica Miller, where she delves into the layers of Black Dandyism and its cultural-political significance. It's a must-watch before the first Monday in May. (Link Below!) https://lnkd.in/grVEiBvi What are your thoughts on the upcoming exhibition? Who are you excited to see walk the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and how do you hope they’ll pay homage to this culturally significant theme? #MetGala2025 #FashionAndCulture #BlackStyle #CulturalIdentity #History #RepresentationMatters https://lnkd.in/gY7B4qrX

🚀 Exploring the Art of Fashion with Robert Wun's Human Four-Layer Costume🎨 I recently came across the mesmerizing work of Robert Wun, whose innovative design of the Human Four-Layer Costume has captivated the fashion world. This masterpiece is not just a garment; it's a profound statement on human complexity and resilience. 🧩 The Design: The Human Four-Layer Costume is a testament to Wun's visionary approach. Each layer represents a different aspect of the human experience: 1. Outer Layer: Bold and protective, symbolizing our public persona. 2. Second Layer: Delicate and intricate, reflecting our inner vulnerabilities. 3. Third Layer: Structured and supportive, representing the framework of our values and beliefs. 4. Innermost Layer: Ethereal and powerful, embodying the cosmic energy that connects us to the universe and fuels our inner strength. 🎨 Inspiration: Wun drew inspiration from the multi-faceted nature of human beings. He aimed to create a piece that explores the interplay between our outer defenses and inner softness, highlighting how these layers coexist and interact. The costume is a celebration of our strengths and an acknowledgment of our fragile, yet beautiful, intricacies. 🌟 Impact: This design not only pushes the boundaries of fashion but also encourages us to reflect on our own layers. It invites a conversation about authenticity, self-expression, and the cosmic power within us that drives our resilience and creativity. Robert Wun's Human Four-Layer Costume is a striking reminder of the power of fashion to tell stories and evoke deep emotional responses. His work continues to inspire and challenge the way we perceive and present ourselves to the world. #FashionDesign #RobertWun #InnovativeDesign #HumanExperience #ArtInFashion #Inspiration #SelfExpression #CosmicPower

👠 Our September theme: “Race and the Runway” Since the early 20th century, the runway has served as both the culmination of a designer’s collection and a reflection of shifting beauty ideals and cultural zeitgeist. In (Western) fashion history, it has often showcased models who embodied idealized, sometimes unrealistic beauty standards, symbolizing a dream. Though the runway offers a brief glimpse of fashion as performance, its influence reveals a trickle-down effect of colonialism and racial constructs. Join us this September as we examine the modeling industry, question who defines “fashion design genius,” and explore iconic designs and campaigns that reveal the progress and regress of this trillion-dollar industry. – Kim Jenkins Founder & Principal Researcher, The Fashion and Race Database
