Continuing our 'One Size Does Not Fit All' series, today we're shining the spotlight on yachts designed for the thrill of the regatta – high-performance sailing yachts like S/Y Win Win, Nilaya, Inoui, and Nikata. Built for Speed and Competition These yachts are engineered with one primary goal: competitive sailing. They are crafted to be nimble, fast, and responsive, perfect for the regatta circuit. The design process from day one is focused on optimising for speed. Every element is scrutinised to ensure it contributes to the yacht's racing prowess. Lightweight Yet Luxurious While performance is key, these yachts don't skimp on comfort. They strike a balance between being lightweight and providing necessary luxuries for the crew and guests. This is achieved through innovative use of materials like carbon composite for standing rigging, and advanced rig and hydraulic packages. The Rigging Approach The rigging for these yachts is a world apart from cruising yachts. It's all about maximizing performance without compromising safety. The use of carbon composite rigging is a game-changer here. It significantly reduces weight while maintaining strength, giving these yachts an edge in speed and agility. 🤔 How have new and used superyacht sales changed recently? ✔ In 2023, 203 new yachts over 30 meters were sold, a 17% drop from the 245 sold in 2022. Despite this significant decrease, any number exceeding 200 is still noteworthy by historical measures. ✔ Over the past two decades, the 2023 sales rank seventh, following the peaks in 2021/22, 2006 to 2008, and 2018. ✔ The most notable decline in sales was seen in the 30 to 40-meter category, with 23 fewer yachts sold than the previous year. ✔ In percentage terms, the sharpest decline occurred in the over 80-meter segment, dropping from 10 yachts in 2022 to 6 in 2023. ✔ The 40 to 50-meter segment performed relatively well, with only a 10% decrease, while sales in the 50 to 60-meter range fell by just 3 yachts to 18, representing a 14% decline. ✔ In 2023, the used yacht market experienced a 27% drop in sales, falling from 403 in 2022 to 296. This decrease suggests a return to more typical levels after the record-breaking sales of 2021 and 2022. 💡 Some of the largest superyachts sold in 2023 include the 115.1-meter Lürssen Ahpo, the 95.2-meter Lürssen Whisper (formerly Kismet), and the 89-meter Amels Here Comes the Sun. #yachting #superyacht #yacht

It is a special time of year for sailing enthusiasts, as the jewel in the Caribbean superyacht season sees an elite lineup converge on the beautiful backdrop of St Barths for the return of the Bucket! 🪣 While it is defined more by good-natured racing than all-out competition, the lineup at the Bucket is always fascinating—demonstrating what superyachts can be when visionary owners with a passion for yachting meet the world’s best designers and boat builders. These endless possibilities are reflected in the range of yachts involved, each with its own distinct personality, but all supremely designed—the absolute cream of the crop. Amongst this exclusive club, the vast majority opt for composite rigging from Future Fibres. Future Fibres is renowned for durability and reliability. An assurance that makes the world’s most popular composite rigging – #ECsix – as attractive to the IMOCA 60s that will take on the Vendée Globe this year, as it is to the yachts we’ll see in the Bucket this week. Future Fibres pushes aerodynamics to the extreme and maximises weight saving, with characteristics which bring benefits beyond the racecourse—delivering smoother, safer, more comfortable sailing. The best technologies empower their owners to have the experiences they envision. The Bucket is a rare showcase of the fact that some technologies let you do it all—smooth, luxurious cruising, and near grand prix performance when the time comes to really let loose! Most of the yachts in this year’s Bucket will be sailing with Future Fibres, but let’s take a look at a select few… Read more: https://lnkd.in/e7gkGvTi 📸 Atila Madrona #StBarthsBucket #Sailing #Yacht #LuxuryYacht #Rigging #Superyacht

More than just a pretty boat. Yes, the R42 is pretty, but let’s not forget a few other attributes that have made her the quintessential ocean cruiser over the last quarter of a century. Let’s start at the bottom, with her encapsulated lead keel moulded as part of the hull, no bolts and no chance of this long fin keel coming off. Aft of the keel, we have a full skeg-hung rudder that supports the rudder from root to tip, great for protection and reinforcement. We also have a solid GRP laminate hull; we don’t use a foam-cored hull – we don’t need to save weight or add a possible point of failure on an ocean-crossing yacht where we don’t need to. Did you know, that below the waterline, we use clear gelcoat because we want to see there are no voids in the laminates, just to be 100% sure. We also fit water and fuel tankage low down, beneath the floor, contributing to the R42’s stability. On the subject of stability, who could forget the engine location? It’s not where it can disturb those sleeping in the aft cabins; it's low and central in the saloon. It keeps the engine weight centrally fore and Aft and above the keel, contributing to her excellent sea-kindly motion and stability. The location makes it easier to access for daily checks and gives all-around space for servicing – we have a ventilation system within the engine mounts to keep the engine cool, improving economy and extending the life of belts too. Today, you won’t find all these features on another sub-50-ft yacht in production. Why not? Put simply, other yachts aren’t designed for the sailing our owners undertake. Many R42 owners have crossed oceans, and some have sailed or are sailing the world. Some report that the boat is better at taking rough stuff than they are, while others enjoy 35-knot winds mid-ocean. Wherever you’d like to cruise in an R42, you’ll always know there’s more to her than her gorgeous looks. Rustler Yachts. Quant GT33 first look: latest DSS foil equipped speedster https://ift.tt/ENpbPvz Hugh Welbourn has now designed many yachts with Dynamic Stability System foils in them and the Quant GT33 looks just as groundbreaking as his previous launches The latest foil-assisted Hugh Welbourn design for Quant Boats is a 33ft weekender with DSS foils, water ballast, and a flexible sail plan designed to cope with the rapidly changing conditions that are often encountered on the larger central European lakes. The additional stability provided by the foils means there’s no need to rely on form stability, so the hull is very slender by today’s standards, especially in the forward sections. In older designs such fine forward sections would have created a risk of nose-diving when sailing fast downwind. However, the DSS foils create lift as well as stability, so this is no longer a problem and the result is a hull with a very narrow waterline beam that’s quick in light airs but can also handle stronger conditions. Article continues below… Extraordinary boats: Infiniti 52 – an incredible story and boat When it comes to displacement, racing yachts today cover the widest spectrum – from fully flying AC75s to the heavyweight… Inside the Infiniti 46 – video tour of the world’s first production offshore racer with DSS foils Though most of us are captivated by the images of flying boats from International Moths to America’s Cup catamarans, the… At speeds of 20 knots the foil produces more than a tonne of lift, so minimal ballast is needed and displacement for the Quant GT33 is little more than 1,000kg – an astonishingly small figure for a boat of this length. Combined with a 12m high rig it gives a power-to-weight ratio that’s nothing short of awesome. The accentuated reverse sheer gives this design a distinctive style, yet it’s also an inherently strong shape that keeps weight out of the ends of the hull. The first example was launched at the end of May and is currently undergoing sea trials. Founder Michael Aeppli says they will know pricing once they have received the first few orders and can build the moulds for series production, but estimates it to be from £250,000 without sails or VAT. Aviation and yachting are coming together...... again. The foiling yachts are getting bigger and they are increasingly electric driven. But if we think about it the Russians and Ukrainians were doing foiling vessels in the 1950's and the 1970s with Voskhod, Raketas and Meteors. Maybe its time to dig back into the archives, as if we are really serious about the environmental impact of yachting one of the first things we have to do is get the hull out of the water and reduce the energy consumption... its just physics. #foiling #history #environment #yachting #yachtdesign https://lnkd.in/dbfYpa4V

Marketing & PR Services targeting high-net-worth clients | Copywriting for yachting & luxury brands that challenges the status quo | Founder at Antibes Yachting
This video and caption was created by Lidija Jakovljevic. You may have seen it elsewhere on LinkedIn this week, purely copied and pasted to a yacht broker's LinkedIn profile with no credit to Lidija (until she called them out, bravo!). This is not acceptable. You can not simply repost any content you see online and purport it to be yours in origin. Occasionally, some slip through the net because they have been shared multiple times and the original source gets lost in the reposting, however in this case the person could see who the content creator was and made no attempt to even rewrite the caption. One of the biggest issues is that many people in the industry don't care. I regularly have conversations with brokers who tell me directly that copyright isn't a concern of theirs and they repost videos and photos from anywhere online. I stopped working with one because he kept sending me random videos he found online with no idea of the source and asking me to post them to his account - even after discussions about the impact of plagiarism and copyright. Think before you post in your quest to be the broker with more followers! In tandem with this, we have brokers who get very little support with marketing assets from their own in-house marketing departments so they are doing their best to promote themselves and what they do. Here's a few true horror stories from yachting companies : 🛑 One brokerage illegally used the logo for a high-profile event on their social media posts. They weren't a commercial partner of the event and were fined €12,000. 🛑 One brokerage who used a sailing regatta image on their communication.....€3,000 infringement from a licensing agency. I support Lidija Jakovljevic standing up for her video and caption creation. #Yachting #YachtBroker #Superyachts
She is finally here 🔥 One of the most anticipated yachts - the 122m (400ft) superyacht KISMET is out for her first summer season. She is built by Lürssen and the exterior was designed by NUVOLARI LENARD - the partnership that previously built the 115m (377ft) AHPO and the 142m (467ft) NORD. This is their fourth collaboration and they are very fast becoming the winning combination. KISMET’s profile is even more dramatic than that of the previous yachts, with a bow so pointed that it almost looks like a bowsprit walkway. Previously known as Project “Jag” (as in ‘jaguar’), KISMET was commissioned by repeat Lürssen client, Pakistani-American billionaire and sports tycoon, Shahid Khan, who previously owned the 95m (312ft) Lürssen yacht WHISPER (formerly Kismet). Shahid Khan is known for being the owner of the auto parts company Flex-N-Gate, as well as for owning several sports teams, including the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C. He arrived in the United States from Pakistan at age 16 with just $500 in his pocket and started work as a dishwasher earning $1.20 an hour while studying at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. After graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering, he began working at Flex-N-Gate and there he developed a revolutionary one-piece bumper design for pickup trucks. This allowed him to start his own company, Bumper Works, which quickly became successful, enabling him to eventually buy Flex-N-Gate, the very company he had initially worked for. KISMET is now available for charter starting at €3,000,000 per week plus expenses.
