🌍 #WorldCleanupDay2024 🌱 A reminder that the protection of the environment is a shared responsibility! This day showed many initiatives that take action, clean up multiple pieces of litter around the world and promote sustainable practices. ♻ But the problem goes beyond just one day and beyond disposable waste! 🏢 The construction sector is responsible for around 37% of waste accross Europe, making it the main waste source in the Union. The real estate industry need to explore ways to reduce and recycle waste, and to shift towards a more circular economy. 🗒 In this regard, the EU produced a Construction and Demolition Waste Protocol in 2016, giving guidelines for industry practitioners as well as public authorities. 👉 More on the subject : https://lnkd.in/gHddFaJN #Waste #ConstructionandDemolition #CircularEconomy

Plastic waste from straws and bottles might grab the headlines, but there's a silent, massive contributor to ocean pollution: construction waste. A third of the world’s waste comes from the construction sector, yet the industry still largely overlooks the environmental impact of the construction phase. Toxic chemicals and microplastics from paints and other materials are entering our oceans, causing serious harm. At Washbox Global, we’re proud to be part of the solution. Our closed-loop system eliminates the risk of contaminated water reaching the sewers, helping prevent these pollutants from reaching the ocean. Read the full Back to Blue article to learn more about our mission and the issues the construction industry needs to tackle. https://lnkd.in/gjqfk9dP #WashboxGlobal #BackToBlue

The rail industry faces major challenges in managing waste. Moving to a circular economy that promotes material reduction, reuse, repair, and recycling will be vital. The way that goods and services are produced and consumed can create unnecessary waste and put pressure on our supply of finite natural resources. The extraction, consumption and disposal of these resources has a direct impact on climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss and water resources. To provide the rail industry with clear advice on waste data collection and reporting, we have developed a suite of six metrics with supporting guidance notes. Most of the global construction industry directs tradespeople to use fresh drinking water to wash their tools, which is then discharged from the site—often carrying harmful pollutants like paint, cement, or chemicals. Disposing of this wash-water to the sewer, which is normal practice, is not a solution, but rather a pathway to pollution of the rivers and oceans. Washbox offers a sustainable alternative with its closed-loop system, capturing and recycling water to protect our planet. 🌍💧 #Sustainable #Construction #WashboxGlobal

Microplastics and harmful chemicals from paints, for example, are seeping into our waterways and oceans, largely unnoticed. At Washbox Global, we’re tackling this issue head-on. Our closed-loop system prevents contaminated water from entering the sewer system, keeping pollutants out of the environment. By recycling and filtering water on-site, we’re creating a more sustainable approach to construction waste management. It’s clear that the responsibility falls on businesses to address these environmental impacts. Our data insights are helping paint a clearer picture of water waste and pollution across projects, and we hope to inspire more companies to take accountability for their practices. Effective waste management is key to a sustainable future. 🌿 Discover the top specialty dumpsters for yard waste: green waste dumpsters, construction debris containers, and composting bins. Each option is designed to promote efficient waste management and environmental sustainability. Have you noticed how green waste dumpsters support recycling efforts by enabling the efficient disposal of organic materials like leaves and branches? Not only do they contribute to reducing landfill waste, but they also propel community responsibility. Just think about how using green waste dumpsters can foster a cleaner environment and inspire others to follow suit. Construction projects also benefit from the use of debris containers. These not only maintain a clean and organized worksite but also streamline the waste management process by providing designated spaces for waste, minimizing hazards and enhancing productivity. And let's not forget the power of composting bins! Transforming kitchen scraps and yard debris into nutrient-rich compost not only decreases greenhouse gas emissions but also enriches our soils. Ready to embrace these tailored solutions for your yard waste disposal? Let's talk about making a greener impact together! 🌱 What waste management practices do you find most effective in your communities? #WasteManagement #Sustainability #GreenWaste #EcoFriendly #Composting https://lnkd.in/eVbDM4_d

In a changing and drying climate, improving how we reclaim and reuse the by-products of our water use is important for future water security. We haven't just named our wastewater plants Water Reclamation Plants, we've committed to embedding sustainable practices in every part of our business. At the Bendigo Water Reclamation Plant, the production of recycled water and biosolids helps us contribute to a circular economy and deliver benefits to our customers, communities and the environment. This Earth Day, and every day, we know a commitment to the environment doesn’t just stop at using less water! We’re saying ‘No’ to wastewater, and ‘Yes’ to innovative ways to deliver recycled water across our region - giving the water we use a second life.
