For the first time ever, our 2x World Championship-winning Rosberg X Racing car was displayed at the GREENTECH FESTIVAL this year (and our Championship winning driver Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky was there too!) Did you know that Extreme E, the electric off-road racing series, transports its entire championship freight and infrastructure via the St. Helena ship to minimise its carbon footprint? 🌍 This unique approach means we can usually only access our Odyssey 21 vehicles at various race locations, making the GTF display super special! Extreme E's ODYSSEY 21, a fully electric SUV, is designed to withstand the harshest conditions. Its peak 400kw (550bhp) output allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds, even at gradients of up to 130 percent. This 1895-kilogram, 2.3-metre-wide beast is not only powerful but also part of a one-design fleet, ensuring a level playing field for all competitors. With all these innovations in e-mobility and sustainable racing, how can we further accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in our daily lives? On Day 05, June 19 Race Car Vehicle Dynamics As a race engineer, Rex Keen said the goal is to set up a car to meet the specific preferences and requirements of the driver, ensuring the vehicle performs as desired at the right times and in the right ways. Many factors come into play when it comes to the handling of a race car, such as weight distribution, wheelbase, and the car's center of gravity. Understanding fundamental concepts such as understeer and oversteer is crucial for a race engineer working closely with a driver. Even if a car is perfectly set up, the results can vary based on the driver's inputs or in endurance racing scenarios where multiple drivers are sharing the same car.

#snsinstitution #snsdesignthkinker #snsdesignthenking |Active car spoilers| [12/26, 2:10 PM] 🔜🔚: There’s a scene in The Road Warrior where Max hits a switch on his shifter and his supercharger spins up, giving him an extra boost of speed. I’ve always wanted something like that for my Miata. Or rather, I want something more effective than turning off the A/C. The aerodynamic equivalent of that is a DRS system, like on Formula 1 cars. In F1, the upper wing of a dual-element wing can pivot into two positions, one for downforce, and one for low drag. It works, and makes F1 racing a lot more fun to watch. But you don’t see active aero much in other racing series, which is a shame, because racing improves the breed. Since active aero is largely banned in racing, most of the advancements are happening on street cars. The first street car with active aero was way back in 1986, the exotic and unattainable Porsche 959. But just two years later you could get an active spoiler on a pedestrian Volkswagen Corrado.

"Unleash the Speed: Dive into Formula 1 Action with DRS! DRS stands for "Drag Reduction System," and it's a technological feature used in Formula 1 racing to improve overtaking opportunities and enhance the excitement of the races. Here's how it works: 1. Aerodynamic Drag: When a Formula 1 car moves through the air at high speeds, it encounters resistance known as aerodynamic drag. This drag slows the car down, making it harder to overtake another car because it requires more power to overcome this resistance. 2. Adjustable Rear Wing: The DRS system allows the driver to adjust the angle of the rear wing of their car during specific parts of the race. By reducing the angle of the rear wing, the drag on the car decreases significantly. This reduction in drag allows the car to reach higher speeds on straights and in situations where aerodynamic efficiency is crucial. 3. Activation Zones: DRS can only be used in specific sections of the track known as "DRS zones." These zones are usually located on long straights where overtaking opportunities are more likely to occur. 4. Activation Criteria: In order to activate the DRS, certain criteria must be met. Typically, this involves being within one second of the car ahead at a specific point on the track, usually determined by electronic timing loops. 5. Safety Measures: DRS activation is disabled during certain parts of the race, such as at the start, following a safety car period, or during wet conditions. This is to ensure safety and prevent excessive speeds in potentially hazardous situations. Overall, the DRS system adds an element of strategy to Formula 1 racing, as drivers must decide when to deploy it to gain an advantage while also considering factors such as tire wear and fuel consumption. It has become a crucial tool for drivers looking to make overtaking maneuvers and adds an extra layer of excitement for fans watching the races. #Formula1 #DRS #Racing #Motorsport #GrandPrix #Speed #Overtaking #Aerodynamics #RaceCars #DRSZones #Strategy #HighSpeed #Adrenaline #Engineering "Excited about Formula 1 racing and the thrill of DRS? The Formula E race went off yesterday in Sao Paulo. What really stood out (over FE's usual close racing) was the performance enhancement of its new #GEN3 Evo All Wheel Drive race car. Visually quicker on track, with actual pole position lap time 3 seconds under last year's, this technical upgrade and new 'grippier' Hankook Tire, gave the cars a major increase in acceleration and traction. This was especially evident during 'Attack Mode' when the cars would receive a 50kW boost of energy that allowed for an on-track performance advantage when activated. This new tech has added to the race show and provided additional areas of strategy to be utilized by team drivers and engineers to excel, as proven by Mitch Evans coming from last place on the grid to win the race! More technical specs of the GEN3 car, along with a detail of its design #sustainability, can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/gv-imtqG Race highlights can be seen here: https://lnkd.in/g5MaY965 #autotech #innovation #motorsports #electricvehicles #AWD #FormulaE #SaoPauloEprix
