Got something off my to-do list and it felt great. Not the major stuff like the how-to-attain-financial-stability type of task (I still have a long way to go before I achieve that 😅) but the miscellaneous ones that needs to be done (like paying bills or exercising). It may look simple but being able to finish the task makes me happy. Maybe we need to add tasks like these in out to-do list. Because when it is time to scratch the task off our list, it gives off a sense of accomplishment and a little bit of confidence. And this confidence gives us a boost to start the next thing in our list. And we can say to ourselves when we face the next task "I can do this!".

We usually expect too much of ourselves on our first day and at the start of a new year. We aren’t rockets with rocket fuel. Winding down doesn’t mean we have to suddenly wind back up again. Stop expecting too much from yourself to suddenly take time off and go into 5th gear. We dont work like that. Focus on just three things you want done today and how you want to be. For example mine are: 1) Prep for my day and week. 2) Deliver, with impact, my free Thrive Sprint and my evening coaching session with my membership. 3) Pace myself, delegate and plan this week in the way I want. This might include getting to bed early, not putting myself under pressure and spread out my workload throughout the week. I’m just back from Lanzarote with my kids and feel relaxed and refreshed though I’m not going to run my batteries down so I’m exhausted by the end of the week. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Found this post useful? I ran a 5K everyday in April. Here's how it went: Fastest time - 22:34 Slowest time - 33:25 Total distance - 96.3 miles (I ran a 10K one day) I was already running 2-3 times per week before April, but this was certainly the most I've ever done over an extended period of time. I set this goal to push myself to stay consistent. Here's what I learned: 1. Just because you're not setting a PR doesn't mean you're not making progress. I learned to pay closer attention to my heart rate zones than simply my overall time, because running for ~25 min at a 165+ BPM everyday is just not sustainable - whether I set a PR or not. 2. Plan in order to make consistency easy. There were some very busy days when I normally would have told myself I didn't have time to get a run in. I didn't want to give up my running streak though, so I started planning my runs several days in advance. There were a couple days I ran at 11:00 pm with a headlamp though. :) 3. Maybe this is just me - but setting a big challenge (one that excites you) can be more motivating than setting a small challenge. I think for me this is just because I feel like I'll really have accomplished something when I accomplish a big goal - something I'm so proud of that I'll brag about it on LinkedIn. ;) Honestly my favorite part of the whole experience though - I feel a lot more energetic than when I started. Taking it a little easier on my knees for May, then looking for a new daily challenge in June. I'm thinking mountains 🏔 ⛰

Start of the month never used to mean anything to me, but for the last 8 months I have been dedicated to following a “new years resolution” style approach. We all know the feeling of motivation that the start of each year holds, well I decided to take that feeling and make it occur every 30 days. The benefits it has given me are beyond my original dreams. Being able to take a step back, reflect on the previous 30 days and the progress I have made as well as then plan and look forward to next 4 weeks and what I want to achieve, how I want to achieve it and actually put a time limit on when I want it achieved by has made me grow exponentially as a person, business development manager and business owner. What does August look like to you? What goals do you have personally and professionally? What can you take from last month into the next, and what will you implement this month you wish you did previously? Just some word vomit for your Wednesday night but thought it was worth sharing… after a while the sense of "motivation" just becomes habit. :)
