Today, I had a flashback to a proud moment in my academic journey – winning 2nd place in the Pharmacy Education Poster Competition at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET)! 🥈👩🔬 I've presented my research on "Decoding Medication Tradenames: an innovative Method for Top 200 medications in Didactic & Experiential Courses”. https://lnkd.in/edbP5E59 Reading Prof Eric Chan, PhD's post about his drug interaction reminded me of the numerous R&D efforts that are constantly being made to understand the sources of inter-individual variability, but also the usefulness of integrating these information in PBPK models in order to inform drug dosing. On that note, I'm quite pleased to share the link to our recently published paper- 'Exploring the impact of ethnicity on drug pharmacokinetics using PBPK models: A case study with lansoprazole in Japanese subjects' in BJP BJCP (British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology); another effort by the Simcyp team to highlight the impact of ethnicity on drug pharmacokinetics. #PBPK #interindividualvariability

🚩Clinical pharmacology is at the core of everything we do in early phase clinical research at Biokinetica, so attending the EACPT in Rotterdam and witnessing so many scientists working together to advance pharmacology is truly inspiring.    This year, there was significant focus on factors that determine access to therapies, such as the EU's efforts to manage drug shortages and stimulate drug repurposing. Clinical Pharmacology discipline has changed over time with evolving landscape of drug development. Advancements in novel modalities and AI/ML are likely to challenge our current ways of working globally. Amita Joshi, Akintunde (Tunde) Bello, MSc, PhD, Adeniyi Olagunju, Neeraj Gupta and I will discuss the future of the field of clinical pharmacology during our session "Expanding Horizons of Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology Globally - What to Expect and Get Ready for Next Decade?" on March 29 at the #ASCPT2024 Annual Meeting. In order to shape our discussion, we are conducting a survey to gather your views on the future of Clinical Pharmacology (including Pharmacometrics, Quantitative Structural Pharmacology, PBPK modeling, Pharmacogenomics and other related disciplines).
