The panel focused on seeing the red flags re: is DEI really supported. Some things to look for: is DEI a department of one, is the function reporting to the CEO, what are the specific outcomes and progress milestones and am I championing things to get support or am I amplifying what is core to the business. This a journey, don’t bring unnecessary baggage, it will slow you down.

The takeaways that Julie outlined are incredibly valuable: Hard work has no shortcuts—so true! Understanding the difference between being a leader and a manager is crucial. Leaning into others and gaining outside perspectives helps us grow. Networking internally is just as important as external networking. Great tip about having lunch or coffee dates with colleagues from different departments!
What a day it was at the North Florida Alliance of Women in Workers' Compensation event yesterday! A massive shout-out to our new Ambassadors, Susan Shemanski, and Sarah Meyer, for their fantastic work organizing such an engaging event. And a big 👏 for Jennifer Woods, ARM-E, as their speaker for being authentically herself ALWAYS and encouraging the group of incredible women in the room to do the same! Biggest takeaways I learned: *Put your head down and do the hard work! There are no shortcuts. *Are you a leader or a manager...and do you know the difference? (Hint: you should) *Lean into others- hearing outside perspectives is how we grow, learn, and improve. *Network internally as much as you do externally. (Hint: Have a lunch or ☕ date with someone in a different department than you each month or quarter.) Thank you to all the event and corporate sponsors! We appreciate everything you do to support the Alliance!

Indiana women, trust me, you don't want to miss out on this event. If you've been keeping an eye on the lineup, you know exactly what I'm talking about. #SayNotoFOMO Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your calendar, make some adjustments, or mark yourself as out of office; 2. Click this link to register now: https://bit.ly/3wRpsAN; 3. Plan your route to the Historic Union Station. Plan ahead and calculate your travel time backward from the opening plenary. Trust me, you don't want to be late!

For me, authenticity is not just a buzzword; it's the cornerstone of connection and empowerment. When I share my own journey, I do so with the belief that it can serve as a beacon of hope for others who may be navigating similar paths. "I've been there, I made it, and so can you" is more than just a mantra—it's a testament to the resilience and strength that lies within each of us. At Youth Empowerment, we embrace this ethos wholeheartedly. We understand that real change comes from real stories, from individuals who have faced adversity head-on and emerged stronger on the other side. That's why we're committed to fostering an environment where everyone's voice is heard, and everyone's experiences are valued. Through our programs, initiatives, and community outreach efforts, we aim to uplift and support women from all walks of life. Whether it's providing mentorship, offering resources, or simply lending a listening ear, we're here to ensure that every woman feels empowered to pursue her dreams and live life on her own terms. Together, we stand in solidarity with women everywhere, celebrating their achievements, honoring their struggles, and amplifying their voices. Because when we lift each other up, there's no limit to what we can accomplish.
