More often than not by the time a patient attends a clinic suffering an RA flare things have calmed down but not for this poor lady who is suffering a rather nasty midcarpal synovitis. A good synovitis screen protocol for the hands and wrists is; 1. The distal radioulnar joint 2. The mid carpal joint 3. The 2nd and 3rd MCPs 4. Plus any other joints that are symptomatic.
