Prevention of Blindness is one of the main projects of NAB Meerut. Almost 90% of the visually impaired people who come to us, weren't born blind but lost the vision later in life. We want to control this. Beside organising camps in village schools of Meerut, we also team up with like minded Opthalmologists who are working for this. Meet Dr. Kirti Jain, the Co-Founder of Aaronya Foundation for People. Dr. Jain is leading a project called "नन्ही आंखे," aimed at preventing unnecessary blindness in preterm babies caused by the disease ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity). Today, they have achieved a remarkable milestone of conducting 500 eye examinations. With over 1000 screening sessions completed, they have successfully saved 48 eyes of 24 babies from permanent blindness. This project goes beyond preserving sight it empowers individuals and the nation, as blindness has profound impacts on physical, mental, social, and economic aspects. We at NAB Meerut have collaborated with her to raise awareness on this matter. My 2 dollars( 2 cents are too small in the healthcare industry😊) on this video celebrating Service Week at a leading hospital. 🕺 Flash mobs, choreographed dances, live entertainments at the service points are common in many industries like the hospitality, QSR, retail and airports as a value addition to their services. 🎸 Every resort in the Maldives has a Bodu beru team, most hotels in the small Pacific islands have Tamure dancers among their team members to entertain the guests. Even a worse dancer like me had danced with guests 😃 at ROBINSON Club where entertaining the guests is a part of the culture to achieve guest delight. However, it looks absurd to see this in a hospital lobby and makes me think that its management has mistaken team building, stress busting activities as a #CustomerService initiative and have adopted it from other industries with an assumption - one size will fit all 😟 There's a big difference between the basics of customer service in the Hospital (healthcare) & Hospitality industry. 🏨 In Hospitality industry, most of the customers(guests)visit hotels looking for a memorable stay or dining experience and become loyal guests if everything goes well. They might sometimes be unhappy due to their expectations not meeting with the services delivered.Hotels work on providing service recovery to welcome those guests repeatedly. 🏥Whereas, hospitals are business houses where most of the customers(patients, caretakers) arrive with unhappy situations, with no plans unless they are visiting to deliver a baby or for a cosmetic treatment. Customer care there is to ensure a speedy recovery, caring treatment, value for money and of course not expecting them returning for the same reasons. 😩 Health care workers are one of the most stressed service providers as they are dealing with unhappy customers, working erratic shifts, handling emergencies involving life/death situations on a regular basis.They definitely require activities, work environment, initiatives that are designed to defuse their stress level to excel in the services they provide. These entertainments if organised at the staff areas will have good impact on the hospital workers' productivity, improved team spirit, wellness which will reflect on the quality of care when they deal with their customers, the resources( time⏳ and money 💹 ) spent for these initiatives can be utilised for upskilling the hospital workers to provide better care.But expecting these activities to spread positivity, joy and health to the customers is unimaginable and to some extend lacking empathy towards customers. The Band Wagon effect is so strong that the next time when we are waiting at a hospital with an excruciating pain or crying while swiping our cards, we'll require a huge level of emotional intelligence to remain calm 🤫 with these entertainers trying to provide us Customer Service. #CustomerCare #HealthCare #Hospitality #Hospitals #TeamBuilding #EmployeeEngagement
