Corporate Immigration - Inbound Canada and Globally - Co-Founder Partners Immigration (ken@nickellane.ca)
Always great when you can meet someone in person, particularly one you’ve known and talked to for years. Marc Pavlopoulos founder of Syndesus, Inc. stopped in as part of a Canada road trip. Marc is someone I’ve been talking to for some time but never seemed to connect with in person. And yes Roman Zelichenko, JD you were a topic, as were both Pavan Dhillon, Josh Schachnow and many others we have in common. Lots of discussion also around recent moves by IRCC, and ESDC, and what we can expect in coming weeks and months. As well as some deep dives into the political landscapes Canada-US, and globally, and where we might be heading. Laughed when he got in my car, it was almost a bit anticlimactic meeting in person, but in a good way. Always better in person of course, but it still never ceases to amaze how much of a connection you can make with people online and how easy it is when you finally meet. Anyway, fun when you get to hang out with your global colleagues in your own backyard. Clearly I need to get out more as well! 😉 Tempted to pull try a double Inigo Lopez jump, but didn’t want to overstep… #canada #business #immigration #globalmobility #economicdevelopment #AI enquiries@nickellane.ca

Interesting insights from BestCities Global Alliance case study on the World Parkinson Coalition (WPC) - a testament to the transformative power of inclusive and impactful events. 🌍🤝 Who doesn't love a great case study?? Some lovely takeaways from the 2023 World Parkinson Congress held in Barcelona: 💡 Inclusivity at Its Core: Uniting patients, researchers, clinicians, and advocates under one roof, WPC emphasizes the importance of diverse voices in driving forward research and understanding of Parkinson's disease. 💡 Cross-Pollination of Ideas: By encouraging dialogue among all stakeholders, WPC accelerates the generation of new research agendas and breakthroughs in Parkinson's treatment and care. 💡 Legacy and Long-Term Impact: Beyond the event, WPC's initiatives continue to influence research directions, advocate for patient needs, and inspire activism within the Parkinson's community. 💡 Global Engagement and Local Empowerment: With congresses held worldwide, including a notable event in Montreal, Canada, WPC showcases the power of international collaboration while empowering local communities. 💛 Much intentional design, including an initiative to train staff in various service industries, focusing on understanding Parkinson's disease to ensure a welcoming and safe experience for delegates. This training aimed to leave a lasting positive impact on the city, benefiting the event attendees and all travellers with movement disabilities. The entire case study can be found here: https://shorturl.at/ckxRV Speaking of Business and Sports Events Montréal, here is a case study from the International AIDS Society, AIDS Conference held in 2022: https://shorturl.at/fhrJX Finally, our Destination Canada legacy impact study is ongoing! Full results are expected in 2026. What's the ROI of adding live interpretation to your events? Here is what the Australian Red Cross told us after KUDO powered their Global Migration Lab Event. “We found that 40% of attendees accessed the interpretation feature. This resulted in more questions being asked, more perspectives, and an overall more inclusive dialogue. We wouldn’t have reached the number of attendees, and participation levels if live interpretation wasn’t offered.” Read the full case study: https://bit.ly/3SIFJ2q #LiveTranslation #SimultaneousInterpretation #RemoteInterpreters #LiveEvents #Engagement #LanguageTech

🌍 "We are all #immigrants to the #future" is a quote from Marina Gorbis, Executive Director of the Institute for the Future, that resonated well with me. 🗺 Navigating the future, as complex as it may be, can be much easier if we facilitate anticipating what it could look like. Yet, just as many countries that want to attract top talent place obstacles in the way of skilled workers seeking new opportunities, we often face barriers when trying to embrace the future. 🚦 This insightful article from The Economist explores how some countries break down these barriers for skilled immigrants, offering valuable lessons for us. What if we applied the same principles that countries like the #UAE and #Portugal do to help attract top talent to immigrate to them? Could we help our colleagues, communities, and loved ones enter the future with less friction this way? 🛂 We cannot fast-track visa applicants to the future, but we can make it easier to sense the future so we feel ready to start creating it. How might we go about that and reduce the barriers to better settle in the "land of the future" for people without a background in #strategicforesight and #futuresthinking? Could we leverage #speculativedesign, #designthinking, and #storytelling in this case? And does immigration to the future resemble permanent settlement in a new place or more like a temporary move for work to advance in one's career? Big questions, I know. I'd love to hear your thoughts below ⬇ #futurist #futurism #imagination #tomorrow #futuresthinking #experiencedesign

"A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IS COMING" is an initiative of the Tele'Drama Publicity Team to share more details about what will happen in the hybrid sessions at the upcoming conference. NO CANDIDATE TALKS ABOUT THIS SERIOUSLY I am proud to be Chilean, but I am sad to be American. Chile, along with Uruguay, is one of the only developed countries in Ibero-America (the correct name for Latin America). Chile is the richest among them; however, it has only 40% of the per capita income of the United States. Healthcare around the world is one of the few areas where the free market fails to function effectively. There should always be a private system that is regulated by the population's access to a public system. Also, a public system generates standardization in services that allows for transparency and scalability.

The Economist nails it in this week’s cover story. There’s a global war for talent. America has been a huge beneficiary of immigrants’ creativity: although only 14% of the population, immigrants are responsible for a colossal 36% of American innovation. And yet, as the Economist concludes, today America “has one of the world’s most dysfunctional immigration systems.” The United States, like other countries, should create an immigration system that welcomes the high-skilled workers who are building artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technology. I am proud that Google – one of the best examples of American innovation enabled by immigrants – has long supported and continues to support reform (to both temporary visas and permanent residence) that would support American tech leadership. https://lnkd.in/evWiWMsP
