As AI's influence expands, it's crucial to address the underrepresentation of women in tech, particularly in AI development. Without diverse perspectives, AI systems may perpetuate gender biases, exacerbating financial challenges for women. Education and training are key to mitigating this impact, empowering women to pursue tech careers. Promoting STEM education for girls, supporting reskilling programs, and fostering inclusive workplaces are also important steps toward gender equality in tech. 🚺 Absolutely thrilled to have attended womENcourage™ 2024 in Madrid! 🚺 👩💻 It was a fantastic opportunity to share insights and learn from other brilliant women dedicated to responsible computing. 💡 I had the honor of receiving a scholarship to attend and present my poster, which resulted in inspiring conversations about the efficacy of simple prediction methods compared to complex ML models in forecasting cloud resource usage. 👩🚀 Beyond sharing research, we celebrated the remarkable progress we've made towards safety, equality, and gender balance in the field of computing, while envisioning the exciting future ahead. The discussions on how responsible AI can pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable tech industry were truly motivating. Despite GenAI, software developer jobs are projected to grow much faster than other occupations, with ~154,000 jobs opening each year - just in the US. But the number of CS undergraduates entering the workforce each year is only ~88,000. One way to fill this gap is by reaching a huge group that is currently underrepresented - women. Join us for an event at the UN General Assembly on Sep 19th, where we will be releasing a report on the status of Women in AI - across 85 countries, and sharing research-based strategies on how to double this number in each country, including the US.
