Happy #WorldSleepDay! Did you know, sleep is 1 of the 3 pillars of health (along with diet & exercise)? Sleep effects nearly every part of our lives, and is a requirement for all mammals in order to restore and repair the body. As a working mom of 5 teens, and my husband works in law enforcement so we think about sleep on a constant basis. In fact the first thing my husband and I say to each other in the morning besides “good morning”, is how did you sleep? He checks his Oura ring and I check my Apple Watch for our sleep metrics. I’m not an efficient sleeper, so my sleep routine starts with getting into bed by 9p so I get enough restorative sleep to fuel my tank for the day. My husband is in bed by 7:30p because he has to wake up at 430a for work. But my teens have late practices or homework and start peaking with energy around 8p, so it’s a constant struggle to make sure we are getting enough sleep. I know right away when I wake up what kind of day it’s going to be and if I’ll be able to conquer a full day of meetings + after school events for the kids.
