Sharing the good news out of Athens, both as a proud parent and the increasing likelihood we'll have one off the payroll in 18 months! To all my accounting and advisory firm colleagues, let me know you need an intro.
I am extremely excited to share that I have been elected to serve as the Treasurer in the 37th administration of the The Student Government Association at the University of Georgia. Rock Rogers, Stephen O. Amolegbe Jr., and I ran on a platform to provide every dawg the chance to have a unique and fulfilling campus experience here at the University of Georgia. We are honored and humbled by the hard work our staff has put in throughout the past few weeks. We also understand how vital student leadership is in Athens right now, and we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of all students. We are also extremely grateful for every person who rallied behind us and supported us and our ideas. This would not have been possible without each and every one of you. It’s going to be a great year. Go dawgs!

Your success is overwhelmingly inspirational.
I am incredibly grateful and deeply honored to announce that I have been selected as the recipient of the Ridge Riley Lion's Pride Award from the Division of Development and Alumni Relations at Penn State University. This award holds special significance for me, not only because of its prestigious nature but also because of the legacy it represents. Ridge Riley's dedication and commitment to Penn State and the Alumni Association are inspiring. It is truly humbling to be recognized in his name. I also want to express my gratitude to Anne Riley, Ridge's daughter, whose unwavering support and commitment to Penn State have been an inspiration to me. It has been a pleasure getting to know Anne. Her passion for our alma mater is contagious, and receiving this award with her in mind makes it even more meaningful. I am incredibly proud to be part of the Penn State family and am grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. My colleagues at the Penn State Alumni Association are the best of the best, settling for nothing less than exceptional. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, thank you to my nominators, and thank you to the division for this incredible honor. Aspiring Leader in Global Sports Development | Performance Nutrition Assistant | Women's Basketball Student Manager
I’m happy to share some key takeaways from two projects I worked on during my junior year at UNC Chapel Hill, each providing a deep dive into strategic communication and economic analysis within the sports industry. These projects significantly deepened my understanding and enthusiasm for the intersection of economics, advertising, and sports. 🏀 In EXSS 324: Finance and Economics of Sport, my team was assigned to conduct a case study on the Charlotte Hornets. This group project involved a thorough SWOT analysis—examining the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats—of the team’s economic strategies and branding efforts. With guidance from Wayne G. McDonnell, Jr., M.B.A., we analyzed the current operations and developed solutions to enhance the Hornets' economic performance. This exploration not only broadened my understanding of sports economics but also inspired me to continue studying the Hornets in my subsequent coursework. 📊 Building on this experience, I focused again on the Charlotte Hornets for a final project in MEJO 531: Case Studies in Public Relations. This project was dedicated to elevating the brand visibility of the Hornets, with strategies designed to engage with relevant pop culture, enhance community involvement, and strengthen media relations. Under the guidance of Lightning (Joe) Czabovsky, this project highlighted the pivotal role of advertising and public relations in the sports market. 🌟 Deepening my engagement with the Hornets franchise through these sequential projects was immensely rewarding. It provided me with valuable insights into how economic and media strategies can collaboratively enhance a sports brand’s market presence. #SportsEconomics #SportsMarketing #CharlotteHornets

Sidra Khalid 18G, 40 Under Forty honoree, reflects on her experience as a young college student at Emory, ready to learn what it takes to be successful. “At 20, I was eager to have everything planned out and to know exactly what I needed to do to be successful. Ultimately, I've learned that life rarely follows a linear path, and it's okay not to have everything figured out when you’re younger.” Learn more about our honorees here: https://bit.ly/4c8KPOd

Doesn’t it feel like all we talk about these days is AI? It tops every agenda now – from Davos to Dayton. Yes, we need to take it seriously and prepare: jobs will go away and many more will change – but how? As technology does more of the work on our behalf – for better or worse – distinctly human capabilities like creativity, critical thinking, clarity of expression, and caring for human experience will increasingly become the “hard” skills. Are we ready? Thanks to Michael Elliott and Emily Cameron Griffen for having me back to Amherst College (seriously, twist my arm…) to share a perspective on how a Liberal Arts education will prepare today's students for leadership in the future – in careers, yes – and also in life and as citizens of an increasingly complex society.
At the first-ever Sophomore Summit, Anne-Claire C. Roesch '08 spoke to the class of 2026 about the value of the liberal arts for their future careers and lives. She joined President Elliott for Between 2 Mammoths to talk about what she shared with the students and her continued involvement with the College as an alumna. 📹: Marcus DeMaio / Office of Communications

It's all about serving the students. We work together with students, who help us understand how higher education needs to evolve to serve them better. We pilot their solutions and scale those that make the impact we all seek. Asking students how to improve higher education is a surprisingly radical approach to their success. #REP4 #highereducation #studentcentered #studentsuccess
