Metal AM #SponsoredContent: SPEE3D Launches the Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) SPEE3D recently unveiled its Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU). The EMU integrates SPEE3D’s expeditionary metal 3D printer, XSPEE3D, with the SPEE3Dcell post-processing and testing unit, all housed in two 20-foot shipping containers equipped with twist locks. This combination enables the production of large, cast-equivalent metal parts in days, not weeks, close to the point of need. Unlike traditional additive manufacturing solutions, the EMU doesn’t use hazardous, costly lasers or inert gases. This ruggedized system can manufacture high-density metal parts from materials such as copper, aluminum, aluminum bronze, and stainless steel. Its complete post-processing shop includes a heat treatment furnace, CNC three-axis mill, tooling, and testing equipment. Transportable on a single platform—whether by truck, ship, or plane—the EMU embodies expeditionary manufacturing, making it ideal for remote industries such as defense, mining, and marine by allowing them to quickly print and replace large metal parts on-site. Aerospace applications heavily rely on advanced forging techniques to produce components that meet stringent performance and safety standards. Forging, a process involving the shaping of metal through compressive forces, is crucial in manufacturing parts for aircraft engines, structural components, and flight controls. Techniques such as closed die forging and drop forging allow for the creation of complex shapes from high-performance materials like titanium and nickel alloys, which are essential for their strength, lightweight properties, and resistance to high temperatures. The aerospace industry demands materials that not only exhibit high durability and low weight but also maintain their integrity under extreme conditions. Innovations in forging, including direct powder-to-solid extrusion and mechanical alloying, are being explored to enhance the properties of forged components, making them lighter and more resilient, thus supporting the ongoing evolution of aerospace technology. As the industry progresses, the focus remains on optimizing manufacturing processes to meet the increasing demands for efficiency and performance in aerospace applications. #Aerospace #Forging #AdvancedForging #AerospaceEngineering #AircraftComponents #AerospaceTechnology #ClosedDieForging

Nakamura is robust heavy machine - excellent for big parts
🎇 Making a Large Housing with NTRX-300🎇 The NTRX-300 is suitable for machining not only medium-sized components in the 8-inch class but also larger components in the 10-inch class or beyond. Pay special attention to machining large housings used in aerospace components 💪 ✅ Material's diameter is φ200 The Y-axis travel stroke of ±125mm allows for the machining of the outer shape by milling. ✅ Both L and R spindles have Main spindles capabilities Flexible layout, regardless of whether the first process starts on the left or right side. ✅ Long distance between centers Ensured the large machining area allowed the I.D. to be machined. The distance between centers should be more than twice the total inner diameter length. ✅ Without lower turrets Easy to access the spindles. ✅ Tool spindle Machining the edge of the components while laying the tool spindle to avoid collisions. The raw material used is A7075 Aluminum, which is preferred in aerospace for its high strength, lightweight, and excellent fatigue resistance. https://lnkd.in/gMFB7Jbf #ntglobal #aerospace #components #cncmachine #manufacturing
