If I could travel back in time and offer advice to myself before facing a layoff, here's what I'd say: 1️⃣ Build your personal brand (it’s never too late to start). 2️⃣ Be open for conversations to chat, network, or volunteer at events, even if not actively job hunting (focus on building meaningful relationships). 3️⃣ Update your portfolio, resume, and LinkedIn profile at least twice each year (you’re gaining skills and making contributions every day - keep a record of it, and learn how to tell good stories). By recognizing your value and preparing in advance, you create your own opportunities by building relationships and highlighting your growth along the way. Don’t wait. Get ahead of the game.

If you're hesitating to post on LinkedIn and showcase your skills, let this be your sign to start now. Waiting until you're job hunting isn't the best strategy; begin networking and building your brand today. Embrace the opportunity to: 🚀 Be vocal about your skills. 🏆 Share your victories and accomplishments. 🔧 Detail how you navigated challenging situations. 🤝 Connect with others; don't hesitate to introduce yourself. Remember, your current job doesn't define your brand. Merely having a big company name in your bio won't make you marketable. Building connections, highlighting your value, and showcasing your offerings will. Layoffs still happen, and your next big opportunity might be one post away. Open that door to potential connections and opportunities now! ✨ #Networking #PersonalBrand #CareerAdvice

For the first month I’ve been in Seattle 🇺🇸, I kept making excuses not to go to the gym. I claimed that I needed my running shoes to avoid knee injuries. Then I remembered: I don't need fancy shoes to run! 😄 Even if I only have work socks and my new Air Force Ones, I can still hit the treadmill. 💡 I AM the tool to get started, not the shoes or socks. 👍 For anyone going through a job search journey, it's essential to network, promote yourself and get yourself out there. ⚡ Obviously, there is much work to do, like figuring out what you want and how to ‘find your candidate market fit,’ and never searching alone (as what phyl terry teaches.) 🙅♂️ But don't wait for everything to be perfect before taking action. 🙌 So, wear whatever shoes you have and focus on making progress. Don't worry about being perfect; Go on the journey, and the right opportunities will come.

Strategic marketer | #BrandDefender | builder | thought leader | storyteller | volunteer | The Packer 25 Recognition
I recently came across a post in a #leadership group that I am connected to that had 8-10 different movie covers that had been altered to be business focused, this one caught my eye and made me laugh! Appropriately attached to one of the greatest animated movies ever created (where's Russell & Mr Fredricksen? YouTube trailer: https://lnkd.in/gpW22tNN), this message can strike many cords for those who are on the sending end vs the receiving end. While we all get more texts, emails, DM's, phone calls than ever before, it can be sometimes difficult to stay on top of every request for our time. Partnership opportunities, sales pitches, job seekers, referrals, or someone who just wants to be part of your network or supplier base, a quick follow up reply - interested or not, can go a long way to opening a new chapter or politely closing one. All his life, Carl Fredricksen dreamed of adventure - don't let the lack of follow up be the reason a qualified candidate, or suppliers dream opportunity with your company, not come true. #FoodForThought
