We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Alastair Carruthers, a true pioneer in our field and a cherished friend of Cutera. Dr. Carruthers, along with his beloved wife, Dr. Jean Carruthers, touched so many lives with their unwavering dedication and passion for aesthetic medicine. Their love story was one of strength, partnership, and shared dreams—a true inspiration to all who knew them. We feel incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of connecting with the Carruthers in the Spring through our truFlex by Cutera partnership and witnessing the profound love they shared. Our thoughts are with Jean and the Carruthers family during this difficult time. Dr. Carruthers’ legacy will continue to inspire us, and his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.

Reflecting on Service and Sacrifice This Memorial Day 🇺🇸 As we approach Memorial Day, it's a time not just for barbecues and the unofficial start of summer, but more importantly, a day to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom 🕊️. For professionals like those in the life sciences and healthcare industry, this day resonates deeply. It’s a reminder of the parallels between the commitments made by our armed forces and our own commitments to service and excellence in our field. The dedication required to excel in the demanding world of pharmaceuticals, navigating complex regulations and ensuring the safety and efficacy of treatments, mirrors the dedication of our servicemen and women. This Memorial Day, let us pause to acknowledge the sacrifices that enable us to live in freedom and to pursue advancements in medical science and healthcare 🌟. Let’s also reflect on how we, as part of this industry, can honor their legacy through our commitment to improving patient outcomes and upholding the highest standards of integrity and quality in our work. It was great to be interviewed about our current collaboration within the EU-funded TACT: Targeted Anti-Cancer Therapies consortium. Thanks to a focused collaboration with Chris Scott, Vijay Chudasama, and Sarah Cianferani, our own PhD-student Irene Shajan -with the help of Léa Rochet, Bianka Gabriela Jackowska, Rania Benazza, Oscar Hernandez Alba, and Floris van Delft- developed a platform that allows the conversion of monoclonal antibodies into very potent bispecific constructs. And with very potent I mean displaying IC50 values in the low picomolar range! Better still, they're not toxic!! The activity is directly connected to the covalent linkage between the units, the separated components don't do anything. Great to share this outcome. Here is a link to the paper: https://lnkd.in/e-bWBApD If you're interested, keep your eyes open for another paper that will be submitted later this year. Also, we will have positions available soon to extend this research further.
We are happy to share with you the newest #ICIbulletin! In this edition, amongst others an interview with Niels Eijkelkamp, associate professor at #umcutrecht about the role of the immune system in chronic pain and with Bauke Albada, Ph.D., associate professor at #Wageningen university and his fruitful collaboration within the TACT project with Christopher Scott, Queens University Belfast, UK. https://lnkd.in/eVgVsKd7

💝 Just Being Nominated Is a Win in Itself 💝 Guldstänk https://lnkd.in/g8PQ3Ur Azad Najar, the Man Behind the Story of Realheart 💔 One of my cousins was born with four different heart defects and the image of how he always had to sit next to the rest of us kicking a ball, tired and with blue lips, stuck very strongly in my mind. This memory has stayed with me ever since, and when I came up with the idea of developing a #TotalArtificialHeart that mimics the human heart in 1999, Realheart's journey began. I want nothing more than to make it a reality and we are well on our way. 🌟 It's great fun to be recognised and nominated, that alone is a win in itself. But to be the company that makes it to the top and wins the first prize would be a great honour. It would be a confirmation that what we are doing is absolutely right and that through our artificial heart we are contributing to people's lives and health. 🌟 Realheart is so much more than just a company. I know that we all have a clear vision, a strong drive and a conviction to deliver a total artificial heart that will save lives. 🫶🏿 We always need to raise awareness of #Cardiovascular disease and the treatments available, both locally and globally. And we are a dedicated team of #Scientists, #Engineers, #Physicians and #Surgeons working tirelessly on daily challenges at different levels, with the goal of developing a total artificial heart that is not only innovative, but also safe and effective. 🫶🏿 More people than I have personal experience of heart disease in the family At the risk of being biased, Realheart really deserves to win this nomination. What we do is a fantastic contribution to the #Development of #Medical #Technology and improving people's lives. I think many people can relate to heart disease in some way, either personally or through a close friend or relative. I also know from my own experience that people are willing to do anything to find treatments that work and save lives. But it is also important that the life you have left has a #HighQualityOfLife. We want to ensure this with our hearts. ❣ If you choose to vote for us as #InnovatorOfTheYear, you do so because you believe in our work and because you want to support us until market launch. A vote from you also shows your commitment to advanced medical technology research and your humanity and concern for people with life-threatening #HeartFailure. ❣ Give hope, #Vote for Realheart and give heart failure patients a chance at life and continued high quality of life. Realheart is breaking new ground in medical technology by developing a fully artificial heart that mimics the human heart. A #Groundbreaking #Innovation that can save lives and thus change the rules of the game for heart failure patients worldwide. 👉🏿 VOTE HERE: https://lnkd.in/g8PQ3Ur
