Czech HVAC&R manufacturer Sinop has announced that its portfolio of beverage coolers now uses 100% natural refrigerants. The company began converting its beverage cooler production line to #hydrocarbons around 2016 and expanded its manufacturing capacity with a new facility for the units in 2023. Sinop now manufactures 18,000–20,000 propane (R290)- and isobutane (R600a)-based beverage coolers each year, noted Radek Hrabánek, Project Manager at Sinop, in a recent interview with ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dN8T9955 #GoNatRefs #NaturalRefrigerants #Propane #R290 Sign up to our NaturalRefrigerants.com weekly newsletter https://lnkd.in/dBj2FWvR

In our industry, we are so reliant on our equipment that when something goes wrong, it runs the risk of kicking out the entire day’s service. Planned Preventative Maintenance is crucial to minimising the chances of this happening and is a service that we offer (alongside design and installation, of course!). But, as another overhead in the current economic climate, we understand that it might seem easy to put off or ignore entirely. But, here are the 10 biggest risks you run when you ignore your PPM: https://lnkd.in/eXgmp72v

CLEANING, PIGGING AND CLEANING A PIG – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? This week we’ve had a question about cleaning, or more specifically Clean-in Place (CiP) - and pigging. We get asked questions like this quite a lot. The question comes from Ali, who works for a company that manufacturers sauce-type products. Ali’s question is “Do you incorporate pigging as part of the CiP process” Great question Ali, thank you. Firstly, if you’re not sure what ‘pigging’ is, it’s more properly known as “liquid product recovery technology”. Pigging is a technique used by companies that process liquids or transfer liquids through pipelines to save them tens, often hundreds of thousands of $ Dollars, £ Pounds or € Euros every year, mainly by recovering product that would otherwise go to waste. And “recovering product” is really important to note in the context of Ali’s question – pigging does not clean as such, but removes and recovers product. In the case of HPS Product Recovery Solutions technology, you'll get about 99.5% product recovery rates from full lines. CiP on the other hand, is about cleaning and sanitizing. As its name suggests, clean-in-place typically uses chemicals to clean important parts of process systems, like the insides of pipes, tanks, fillers etc, without them having to be taken apart or moved. Like pigging, CiP is normally automatic. Also like pigging, there’s a lot more to CiP than my brief summary! So while pigging and CiP are different things, pigging and CiP go hand-in-hand. Pigging usually takes place during batch changeovers – and usually before a CiP operation. The CiP process is usually reduced by pigging (because after pigging there’s only a trace of product left in the line). So if you’re using pigging before CiP you’ll likely use flush less water, cleaning chemicals, and the whole changeover process will be much quicker. But to sanitise, a CiP process is still required after pigging. And the pigging equipment itself, including the pig, is usually cleaned as part of the CiP process. If there’s normally an initial flush, pigging will sometimes replace it (or certainly reduce it). Occasionally, the next batch can be processed straight after pigging, without a flush or CiP at all, which makes batch changeovers very quick. While sometimes you may pig without CiP, but it's unlikely to CiP without pigging (assuming you have a pigging system). I hope that answers your question Ali. If you have any questions about liquid product recovery (pigging) technology, please put something in the comments or send me a message and I’ll get back to you. And let’s connect! #manufacturing #engineering #pigging #liquids #yields #capacity #cleaning

Summer is here so, Question: -What competency do you need for working on a commercial LPG BBQ? Well technically as it would be part of a commercial mobile catering setup, you would need your CONGLP-CMC changeover which means you must also hold a catering core CCCN1 (or domestic CCN1 and a changeover e.g. COCATA 1 and 3) and appliances such as COMCAT 1 and 3. Just to add to the mix though, some of the more domestic type LPG equipment including BBQ’s and patio heaters fall under LEI LP1, which is LPG leisure equipment on a single bottle supply and LEI1 for fixed pipework supply. (If the BBQ is Natural Gas then you need an appropriate core such as CCN1 for natural gas. If LPG you either need an LPG core or changeover such as CONGLP PD). Small self contained cabinet heaters are covered by the CABLP1 competency and are separate from the above (but the competency technically includes BBQs and patio heaters). CABLP1 can be taken as part of CCLP1-MC which is a limited scope core with no MLP (Managed Learning Programme) required. For gas engineers and customers this can be a confusing minefield of codes and it is very easy to work out of scope. Handy hint for everyone though is that if you’re not sure what the competency code means or allows you to do, simply tap it into your search engine with EUSkills after it, e.g. COMCAT1 EUSkills and the assessment criteria will become available to read. Gas Safe should also be able to assist you in what is required as well as the more specialist Gas Training centres. This particular BBQ failed its tightness test today, the hose and regulator were also out of date. It’s very difficult however to cap off a single bottle LPG appliance. #competency #gas #bbq #propane #hospitality #healthandsafety #compliance #safety #catering #cooking #summer #hotel #foodsafety

🚀 5 Cross-Market Industrial Boiler Uses and Applications 🔥 On any given day, industrial boilers are hard at work across multiple industries, providing essential heating and steam solutions. Whether it’s in massive skyscrapers or small breweries, these systems operate behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. They’re the unsung heroes of our modern infrastructure! 🌍💼 Here are five ways industrial boilers make a difference across various sectors: 🍺 Breweries: Many don’t realize the same powerful systems that heat large buildings also fuel the craft beer industry! Industrial boilers are crucial for brewing, pasteurizing, and sanitizing, all while ensuring the beer is brewed to perfection. From heating large kettles to delivering hot water for sterilization, boilers are at the heart of every brewery’s operations. A great example is the Alaskan Brewing Company, which saves 1.5 million gallons of oil by using spent grain as fuel! ♻️🍻 👕 Laundries: Industrial laundries in hospitals, hotels, and cleaning firms rely on high temperatures to get the job done efficiently. Boilers provide large volumes of hot water needed for washing, while also powering downstream processes like ironing and pressing. Whether it’s a free-standing facility or part of a hospital or resort, boilers help keep linens clean and fresh. 🧺✨ 🏥 Hospitals & Health Care: Hospitals are one of the largest users of industrial boilers, which are essential for sterilizing equipment, operating rooms, and generating clean steam. Boilers also heat the entire facility, humidify emergency rooms, power laundries, and aid in food preparation. These versatile systems keep healthcare operations running 24/7, making them a critical investment for any large facility. 🏨💉 🎓 Schools & Universities: From small elementary schools to sprawling university campuses, boilers provide hot water and heating solutions to keep students and staff comfortable. Schools often use a mix of industrial boilers and smaller units to heat classrooms, dorms, and other buildings efficiently, ensuring everyone stays warm during the winter months. 📚🏫 🍲 Food Processing: Food preparation relies heavily on boilers for boiling, drying, cooking, and sterilizing. Whether it’s meat, poultry, or beverages, industrial boilers play a role in eliminating microbiological risks while ensuring consistent and safe production processes. For food manufacturers, boilers are indispensable for creating quality products that meet health and safety standards. 🍽️🛡️ 📞 Contact ATI of New York today and let us help you achieve your facility’s heating and steam needs with a system tailored to your operations. 💼💪 #IndustrialBoilers #EngineeringSolutions #Breweries #Hospitality #FoodProcessing #EnergyEfficiency #BoilerSystems #Sustainability #FacilitiesManagement #HeatAndSteam #ManufacturingSolutions #SmartEngineering #NYManufacturing #HVACSolutions #InnovationInIndustry
