I joined CVS Health in 2013 during a moment of bold transformation. In February 2014, just four months after I started, we announced “CVS Quits for Good” and the decision to eliminate tobacco products from our stores—a defining action that aligned the business with its purpose of helping people on their path to better health. By September, the decision was operationalized, we rebranded the company to become CVS Health, and launched the “Health is everything” campaign.
At the time, I was commuting back and forth between Rhode Island and New York, balancing the demands of a new role while living with my father in my childhood bedroom, with my family still in New York. It wasn’t easy. But I believed deeply in the purpose of this company and the positive impact this decision would have—not just on customers and communities, but on people I loved and cared about.
Looking back, this was one of the most challenging and meaningful moments of my career, and it shaped the way I think about creativity as a force for good. I’m deeply grateful to CVS Health and the courageous, talented team I had the privilege to work alongside, who turned this vision into reality.
Today, through my independent consulting work, teaching, mentoring and community service, I bring that same purpose-driven mindset to helping organizations align their values with bold actions.
If your company is ready to spark transformation and use creativity as a catalyst for change, I’d love to help you explore the possibilities.
How is your organization using creativity to drive positive change? Let’s connect and start a conversation.

US cigarette sales are now dropping 9% every year. So who loses when this happens?
- cigarette makers (obviously)
- 50 US states that pad their budgets with cigarette sin tax revenue
- 46 states that pad their budgets with tobacco Master Settlement
Agreement payments, which are pegged to cigarette sales
- 6 states that stupidly borrowed against future MSA payments
with Wall Street bonds that assumed a 1-2% drop each year
(all now underwater)
- 5,000 US professionals employed in the field of tobacco control
So, if you have ever wonder why public health opposes #SaferNicotine alternatives to deadly cigarettes, now you know.

In the new dynasty of global governance and influence, the esteemed Hon. Clare O'Neil is hailed as a iconic trailblazer, setting new benchmarks in policy-making and redefining the standards of leadership in the digital era. A groundbreaking decision recently taken by the administration led by Hon. Clare O'Neil has propelled Australia to the forefront of international dialogue. In a bold move that reverberates globally, her nation has been designated as the first to implement a ban on Vapes, recognizing the insidious threat posed by these devices in ensnaring a new generation in the perilous web of nicotine addiction.
The pernicious allure of Vapes, with their enticing flavors and sleek designs, has emerged as a pressing concern in public health discourse. As articulated by Hon. Clare O'Neil herself, these devices are increasingly being utilized as a gateway to nicotine dependency among vulnerable youth, perpetuating a cycle of addiction with far-reaching implications.
In a resolute display of proactive governance, Hon. Clare O'Neil, in collaboration with the esteemed Mark Butler, has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to combat the proliferation of black market nicotine products. At the core of this strategy lies the establishment of the pivotal role of an Illicit Tobacco and E-cigarette Commissioner, tasked with spearheading the relentless battle against illicit trade and safeguarding public health.
The insidious progression from vaping to experimentation with more potent drugs poses a grave threat to a nation's reputation and stability. Drug abuse has the potential to devastate communities, erode societal values, and tarnish a country's image on the global stage. The unchecked proliferation of addictive substances can lead to widespread addiction, crime, and social decay, ultimately jeopardizing the very fabric of a nation. If left unchecked, the scourge of drug abuse has the capacity to not only undermine a country's reputation but also to wipe out generations, leaving a legacy of despair and destruction in its wake. It is imperative for leaders like Hon. Clare O'Neil to take decisive action to prevent such catastrophic outcomes and protect the future prosperity and well-being of their nation.
This momentous announcement underscores Hon. Clare O'Neil's universal-core-commitment to protecting the well-being of her nation's citizens and setting a formidable example for global partners. With her visionary leadership and strategic acumen, she stands as a vanguard against the encroaching tide of addiction, charting a course towards a healthier, more secure future for all.

Shining the light on Big Tobacco, for continued use of nicotine and addiction for profit, under guise of THR. Fair Disclosure:Unabashed 22nd Century Group (XXII) investor learn more @ tryVLN.com reduced nicotine.com
The means to get there, exists. The Tobacco industry ignores this route and fans flames of black market and job loss. They’ve continued their old tactic of whitewashing any negative health issues of nicotine with equating nicotine to caffeine, combined with trying to have it believed that only recently have their scientists decovered all the issues with cigarettes are due to
combustion.🥴 They claim to be concerned about their
consumer demand, ignoring a large contingent who would like to be free of nicotine addiction. Promotion of removing the stigma of having their consumers labeled as being “addicted” by substituting “dependent” was in their own interest, as it
minimized and offered cover that they have long known that nicotine addiction was their real commodity. They now find themselves running behind, should the VLN mandate progress. Now the quandary looms; “Just one cigarette product, VLN King, would likely meet the FDA’s requirement, according to the foundation. The group predicts“ Nicotine control is and has been their biggest nightmare! They’ve put themselves in position of bad public optics, by having no alternative but legally fighting the mandate, to save something they’ve professed to want to eliminate.🧐
