UK Tax Controversy, HMRC Fraud Investigations & Non compliance, International Financial Compliance Expert | Partner | Business Consultancy | Ex-Professional Cricket Player
The 10 Downing Street must act swiftly to address the critical issues plaguing the National Crime Agency (NCA), as highlighted by recent reports. The NCA is facing a "major brain drain" due to stagnant pay, uncompetitive compensation compared to other sectors, and limited career progression. These challenges have led to an alarming number of unfilled roles, particularly at senior levels, jeopardizing its ability to tackle serious and organized crime effectively. The Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP To avoid catastrophic consequences, immediate investment is needed to reform the NCA’s pay structure and enhance its technological capabilities. Without this, the agency risks losing more talent and resources, which are vital in protecting the public from corruption, fraud, and hostile threats. Long-term funding solutions, rather than short-term fixes, will reduce dependence on costly temporary staff and consultants and improve overall efficiency. Now is the time for 10 Downing Street to ensure the NCA has the tools and workforce to continue safeguarding the UK’s national security. Investing in pay reform and technology not only strengthens the agency but offers long-term value for taxpayers.
