🌟 Excited to share my experience as an intern in the Quality and Risk Management Office, where I’ve been diving into the Patient Safety Essentials certification from Healthcare Excellence Canada! 🌟 This certification is more than just a credential; it’s a powerful framework that emphasizes the importance of patient safety in every aspect of healthcare. Here are a few key benefits I’ve discovered during my journey: 1. Enhanced Knowledge: The certification provides in-depth understanding of patient safety principles, equipping me with the tools to identify and mitigate risks effectively. 2. Improved Communication: It fosters a culture of open dialogue among healthcare professionals, encouraging us to share insights and learn from each other. 3. Stronger Systems: By implementing best practices, we can create safer healthcare environments that prioritize patient well-being. 4. Collaborative Approach: It emphasizes teamwork, ensuring that everyone plays a role in enhancing safety and quality in care delivery. 5. Continuous Improvement: The focus on ongoing education helps us stay current with evolving safety standards and practices. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a safer healthcare system and excited to continue learning and growing in this field! 💙 #PatientSafety #QualityCare #HealthcareExcellence #InternshipExperience #RiskManagement

What does a good day look like to you? It’s asked on yearly #nhsappraisals but until you feel one it’s hard to put it into words. Today - not ‘enough’ trained staff, no prescribers on duty, a junior team. A trainee practitioner having a confidence crisis and wanting to drop thier banding, walk away from the last 12 months of training. I worked clinically with them 8-12 (which turned into 2pm) - so productive, lots of coaching and listening - really listening. Afterwards I had to turn my concentration to submitting uni applications for courses starting in the autumn that I should have done 2 weeks ago, not wanting to submit them as the last two I’ve sent have had information missing and I felt like a failure - ‘so overloaded I can’t even do that right..’ After then answering a few emails, trying to tidy my mailbox it is now 1715 and I had pencilled in to work with a trainee practitioner 75 minutes ago. It wasn’t as planned, she she was now in the #streaming role, not ideal for signing off competencies but a #learningopportunity all the same… And there it is - the reason I love my job and realising that during the last two years things have been still moving in the right direction despite challenges especially when you can’t see or feel a change. They said to me- ‘The team here are so supportive, they have been really forthcoming with my learning and have been prompting me to get things signed off - I have really enjoyed working here this week - It is a credit to you and the team’ ‘The team’ - the most important word. As the only educator I can’t do this alone and I knew I needed buy in from all to help develop/educate a team of highly skilled practitioners in the urgent care and minor injury illness environment and today I felt a small win 🏆. I left work feeling, despite of everything - on top of the world! 🌍#emptyandfull #clinicaleducator #urgenttreatmentcentre #team #resiliance #learning

Building a Sustainable Rural Pharmacy Workforce The rural pharmacy workforce crisis isn’t going away—it's getting worse. Great to see a record number of interns this year, but we need urgent solutions. There are so many overseas pharmacists eager to come to NZ, yet the process is too slow and too expensive. We need a fast-track pathway to get them into the workforce now. Long-term, one thing is clear: to solve the pharmacist shortage rurally, we must recruit and train from within the community. A pathway for PACT technicians to become pharmacists and a return to apprenticeship-style training is the way forward. Let’s start doing. Rural communities can’t wait. 🚀 #PharmacyWorkforce #RuralSolutions #FastTrackPharmacists PSNZ, Pharmaceutical Society Pharmacy Council of New Zealand Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Let’s start doing. Let’s be honest… Getting into specialty training is difficult. All opportunities are becoming more competitive due to increasing interest and stagnation of specialty posts. This makes the Portfolio more essential than ever. It is often the most neglected part of the specialty application process. One cannot take getting an interview for granted anymore. With that being said, today is the day that The Portfolio Clinic will be relaunching! Myself, Shiv Sharma and the rest of our incredible team have been working hard to develop “The Portfolio Resus” programme. This will offer mentees the opportunity to enter a dedicated 6 month programme of personalised, practical and goal-orientated mentorship, live events, an E-learning package, in addition to further networking opportunities. The main outcomes we wish mentees to obtain include a spot within a desired training programme and development of the medical career portfolio. If you’re a junior doctor interested in the above then register at the link: https://lnkd.in/epX6VqBr If you’re a current specialty trainee and interested in joining our Mentor network, you can register here: https://lnkd.in/ey5Mn84f Benjamin Finch Moneet G. 🌟 CESR or Portfolio Pathway make the Specialist Register accessible to those that haven’t completed a UK training scheme It also gives NHS Trusts the ability to 'grow their own' Consultants 🌱 thus removing the reliance on waiting for UK trainees that might not come ⚠️ The process is a minefield with huge amounts of documentation usually required (typically 📚 800–1,000 pages of documents) ❓ Knowing where to start is daunting, and there’s minimal information available publicly 📋 The GMC and Royal Colleges offer detailed criteria unique to different specialisms, but it’s up to you to decide how you provide and present the evidence 👩⚕️👨⚕️ Many doctors I speak to are seeking ‘CESR Support’ in their next job, and many employers want to ‘grow’ their future Consultant workforce 📉 The issue is that there’s a huge shortfall in information available to doctors around what’s expected and to employers around what they need to offer 💡 If you’re working as a senior doctor and looking to pursue CESR, let me know as I might be able to help bridge this gap and connect you with an excellent employer who can support you!

In fields like healthcare, certifications and associate degrees offer unique advantages. Understanding the differences between these two options can help you make an informed decision that aligns with your career goals. Certifications typically focus on skills and knowledge needed for a particular job. They are often shorter, allowing students to enter the workforce more quickly. For those looking to gain practical, hands-on experience and start their careers sooner, certification programs are an excellent choice. Associate Degrees provide a broader educational experience, combining general education courses with specialized training in your chosen field. These programs typically take about two years to complete and can open doors to more advanced positions and higher earning potential. Both paths have their benefits and can lead to rewarding careers. Whether you choose a certification or an associate degree, the key is to align your choice with your personal and professional aspirations. Concorde Career Colleges, a division of UTI, offers a range of programs to help you succeed in the healthcare field. Explore your options and find the path that’s right for you. #Education #CareerDevelopment #Healthcare #HealthWorkers #BacktoSchoolMonth https://lnkd.in/guNrfAgu
