Raj Tulsiani, Co-founder and Chair, REM and CEO of Green Park, who are co-headline Partners Powering Race Equality Week 2025, tells us why the Race Equality Week is important: “Race Equality Week has become a vital part of intersectional progress. Firstly, it has created a time and a place to sustain the momentum after the events that took place in 2020. Race Equality Week allows organisations to both reflect and pursue action towards tackling race inequality. Secondly, it has grown from Javed and I, to now 4 million people and 4500 companies across the UK, it proves that the topic of race equality can’t be ignored or handled in a tokenistic manner. Thirdly, it provides guides and solutions to create inclusive work environments and these solutions have been shaped with the help of people in the community who have a lived experience of discrimination. We put the spotlight on organisations who care.” Find out more about Race Equality Week and how you and your organisation can get involved using the link below: https://lnkd.in/eYUiybKg #RaceEqualityWeek #RaceEqualityMatters #RaceEqualityWeek2025

The theme, #EveryActionCounts, was selected by the Race Equality Matters community. It reflects ongoing findings and feedback. In particular: ➡️ Only 40 % of the REM community believes their organisation focuses on action, change, and impact, and not just words. ➡️ 26% believe that less than a quarter of allies are actually helping to tackle race inequality. ➡️ 64% said their senior leaders and managers are committed to tackling race inequality, but only 46% said their senior leaders and managers are making an impact in tackling race inequality. Every small step you take is like sowing the seeds for change—whether big or small, each action matters. Building on the previous REW themes, which sent clear messages that race equality is everyone’s business (#ItsEveryonesBusiness 2023), in (#ListenActChange 2024) #EveryActionCounts will galvanise everyone to focus on taking action. There has been a lot of listening, and discussing, but very little action and even less meaningful change. If we all commit to #EveryActionCounts, then real change can take place. Everyone has a role to play in the fight for racial equality in the workplace, from the top of each organisation to the bottom. The sooner we act, the sooner change can become our reality! That is why the 2025 Race Equality Week theme is #EveryActionCounts. Join us for Race Equality Week 2025. As October marks #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re reflecting on some of the positive strides we’ve taken over the year and highlighting the work we still are yet to do on the road to racial equality. 👇 We’re hugely proud to have been awarded a Race Equality Matters Bronze Trailblazer award for our work taking action and making an impact on race equality. We’ve been busy working with our incredible network teams to celebrate Race Equality Week, host Diversi-Tea sessions with our colleagues and publish our ethnicity pay gap report - to name a few. Alongside this, we’ve been actively contributing to a comprehensive race-related report by sharing data, insights, and activities aimed at driving positive change. 🙌 But what more could we be doing? 🔎 This year, we hope to put a lens on decolonising conservation by hosting sessions with colleagues, helping to gain an understanding of how we can embed anti-racist practices into the work we do. These sessions will raise awareness of systemic racism while promoting an anti-racist and comprehensive approach to foster a fairer and racially just sector. 👐 #BlackHistoryMonth #RaceEqualityMatters

I’m incredibly grateful to have such a strong ally in Paul Brennan. However, for organisations to truly create environments where everyone can thrive and reach their potential, they must ensure that all employees feel valued and have a true sense of belonging. To make this happen, employers need to diversify their workforce and actively address the biases that disproportionately affect minoritised ethnic applicants and staff. Too often, these individuals are required to work three times as hard as their white counterparts and still receive only a fraction of the recognition they deserve. It’s time to level the playing field.

Despite statements and pronouncements by organisations, leaders and ‘allies’, progress towards race equality still has a long way to go. What has become clear is to restore momentum, it has to be Everyone Business. Everyone must take responsibility for driving that critical cultural shift. However, our busy day-to-day lives means, even if the will is there, we’re often time-short and too distracted to do as much as we’d like. Taking a couple of minutes a day to consider the diversity and equality in your organisation before coming up with new strategies and ideas to become more inclusive can help to progress towards race equality. ➡️ To access free resources to tackle race inequality join the REM network: http://ow.ly/FOav50OHIcS #RaceEqualityMatters Source: ENEI

In a 2022 report by The Fawcett Society and Runnymede Trust, it was found that 75% of women of colour surveyed had experienced racism at work, with 27% facing racial slurs. 52% of women of colour experienced discrimination during the hiring process, with 34% having to require colleagues to vouch for the decisions they make. This must change. Race Equality Week encourages organisations across the country unite in activities to seriously address race in the workplace. Race Equality Week came from Race Equality Matters, a partnership between The Collaboratory and diversity consultants, Green Park. The annual event gives organisations 5 ways to actively change how individuals think and behave at work; #MyNameIs, Safe Space, The Big Promise, and Tea Break. Find out more about the upcoming 2025 Race Equality Week by following The Collaboratory today. #TheCollaboratory #PeopleMatter #ListenActChange

Day 3 of Race Equality Week 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Today's challenge is for the leader's, the supervisor's, the manager's... The ones at the 🔝 Praise and recognition at work. Is it fair? Intentional or not, we can be biased about how we celebrate the hard work of others. It is important we implement ways that encourages professional progression and recognises hard work fairly. You can: ●Access free tools and resources on the Race Equality Matters website. ●See how other organisations turn words into action for ethnically diverse employees. #ListenActChange #RaceEqualityWeek2024 #praise #RacialEquality #RaceEqualityMatters #ItsEveryonesBusiness #BigPromise #ItsNotMicro
