Some takeaways from the the 2nd Annual H2 Mobility&e-Fuels Forum! It was a great pleasure to participate in the panel discussion “How to make the most out of the European Hydrogen Bank and the funds from the private sector to finance your projects” with the fascinating speakers and experts Maximiliane Reger, Marcello Leonardi, and Henry Rushton.   ✅ Key points from the panel discussion: 📌 The main challenges in securing funding for projects: -       Uncertainties in the regulatory framework for a period of 15-20 years taking into account EU targets for e-Fuels only for 2030 under RED III. -       High costs for hydrogen as a feedstock for e-Fuel production. 📌 The role of Hydrogen Bank in the realization of e-Fuel projects: -       The Hydrogen Bank is a very important initiative, however subsidies are still required; -       The Hydrogen Bank only supports hydrogen production, which is not sufficient for e-Fuel projects. We need to establish suitable framework conditions for the production and use of CO2 as feedstock for e-Fuels. 🌟 Hydrogen: Game Changer for Africa's Energy #Transition? 🌍🔋 This was only one question that we touched upon at this year's Energy Forum. To deeply delve into the transformative power of hydrogen in Africa, we invited a distinguished selection of experts taking center stage at two insightful panels: 🔷 1. Harnessing clean hydrogen for local use in African industries This session highlighted how clean hydrogen can decarbonize energy-intensive industries and foster net-zero industrial development. After an insightful scene setting by Gunther Beger (UNIDO, Austria), Sven Schuppener (UNIDO, Austria), Dr Markus Thill (Bosch, South Africa) and Chigozie Nweke-Eze (Integrated Africa Power (IAP), Germany) engaged in a fruitful discussion. 🔷 2. Outlook on Africa’s H2 hype: Overcoming first mover’s challenges This exchange emphasized the need to move beyond the hype to actionable solutions. Therefore, key bottlenecks and strategies for advancing Africa’s hydrogen economy were explored by Joseph Mukendwa (Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme), Eudy Mabuza (Department of Science and Innovation, South Africa), Tobias Bischof-Niemz (ENERTRAG SE, Germany), and Christopher Frank (thyssenkrupp Uhde, Germany). The session was moderated by Dr Christof Häfner from Clifford Chance. And we can't overlook sharing the breathtaking view of Hamburg in the last picture with our followers.
