The leaders unanimously agreed and the goal remains unchanged to reduce the GHG emission by 43% in this critical decade and by the year 2035 the same to be taken down by 60% relative to the level of 2019. - The commitment to triple global renewable capacity and double the energy efficiency improvements by 2030. - Goal to deploy 1500 GW of energy storage by 2030. - Eliminate inefficient fossil fuel subsidies by 2025 and targeting net-zero emissions by 2050. EBRD Delegation Visits Kyiv to Strengthen Support for Ukraine’s Energy Sector A high-level delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by Matteo Patrone, Vice President, Banking, visited Kyiv this week to engage in discussions with Ukraine’s government and key energy companies on providing support to the country’s energy sector following the extensive Russian attacks on power generation facilities. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the EBRD has significantly increased its investments in Ukraine, deploying €4.6 billion since 2022. Let's talk ENERGY. This is one of the key themes of London Climate Action Week, and it was also a pressing issue at the recent Ukraine Recovery Conference, underscoring the urgent need for reliable energy supplies. Once the Ukraine Recovery Conference was over, we met with our delivery partners of Abt Global in Ukraine, Kyiv School of Economics, Центр економічної стратегії / Centre for Economic Strategy, and KPMG, to discuss crucial lessons and next steps to drive Ukraine’s inclusive recovery and reconstruction. The energy sector is a pivotal area for investment and development. We must prioritise projects aimed at rebuilding and modernising energy infrastructure, with a significant focus on flexible and renewable energy capacities to reduce dependency on monopolies. At Abt, we recognise that sustainable energy solutions are fundamental to building resilient communities and ensuring long-term recovery and development. URC2024 continues to implement the principles set out at the first Lugano Conference in 2022, with a focus on economic resilience and Ukraine's future accession to the EU. The key goal of the conference is to consolidate international support for the recovery, reform and modernization of our country, including green energy.
