A new study published in the Journal of Healthcare Management (ACHE) and conducted in partnership with my friend Janet Guptill, FACHE, CPHIMS at Scottsdale Institute, sheds light on the importance of creating digitally savvy executive leadership teams that operate in a new, integrated model that unites previously siloed functions. Executives at 33 health systems were asked how information solutions and technologies were viewed within their organizations’ strategy, operations, and governance and the key characteristics of executive leaders. The study was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the changing roles of CEOs, CIOs, and other executive leaders in the post-pandemic era. It underscores these executives’ adaptability and strategic vision in shaping the future of healthcare delivery. More key findings and three overall themes can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eRdmVn64

I love working alongside physicians to enrich the experience across healthcare. For me, it’s a special pleasure to be engaged in the thought leadership that drives change in the healthcare space, and there are lessons for all organizations in this work. I had the opportunity to sit down with Michael Sacopulos to give an in-depth interview focused on what healthcare can learn from hospitality about innovating in leadership and the patient experience. This was recently published in the AAPL Healthcare Administration Leadership & Management Journal (and I have linked a direct download below in the comments). This year, we have completed a number of consulting projects in this space - predominantly focused on physician leadership & development with a special focus on how this can impact, not only physicians themselves, but the rich healthcare ecosystem and the patient experience at large. There is no industry out there that isn’t facing significant pressure to change, innovate, and think differently - and it’s a delight to see more and more organizations embracing new ideas! The lessons in healthcare, like the lessons from any industry, have learnings we can all take away to enhance strategy and customer experience. Finally, to all the physicians that I have had the privilege to work along side in the last year, thank you for your unwavering dedication to excellence, humanity, and growth. Modern healthcare may be far from perfect, but many of the professionals working within it are truly exceptional. #AAPLeadership #AAPLPhysicianLeaders #patientexperience

Healthcare leaders—practices, hospitals, industry vendors, ancillary services—please consider the following: The nationally-established disease state conferences are 100% valuable…but let’s continue to find new & different paths to inspire growth in patient access, transparent intra-operability between entities & financial stability to not just keep the doors open but to dynamically plan for the future. Over the last 2 days, executive healthcare leaders from private practices, hospitals, MSOs, & industry vendors gathered at Firestone Country Club for the 5th BTA Consulting Healthcare Leadership Summit. No mandatory sales presentations due to sponsorship. No attendees feeling pressured or stalked. Simply an environment of professionals troubleshooting pragmatic, universally challenging topics with each other, proving that if we expand our bench of perspectives and support—ESPECIALLY if they differ—everyone’s impact on patient care, operational effectiveness & outcomes is magnified. Thank you to the incredible healthcare leaders from across the country who trusted BTA Consulting & each other to participate in this open forum. From the one-off organic discussions to the new relationships to all of the laughter…each & every one of you inspires BTA’s purpose. #leadership #healthcare #diversity Chief

Leadership in healthcare is not simply about achieving goals; it’s about embracing a profound responsibility to uphold the well-being of patients and staff every single day. At its core, serious leadership is about leading from the heart. It’s about recognizing that every decision, and every interaction, has a ripple effect on the lives of those we serve.
