When I was a little kid one of my favourite movies to watch on TV in the 80s was Battle Beyond the Stars. I think I may have even gone to the cinema to see it aged 7. As I became mad into movies I loved the stories you heard around the making of Battle Beyond the Stars - which combined Star Wars with Seven Samurai (Star Wars itself was influenced by Hidden Fortress - another Japanese movie great). Legend had it that Roger Corman, the man behind the film, was a formidable force creatively. It was often joked that Corman could negotiate a contract from a public phone, shoot the film in the phone box and pay for it with the coins in the change slot. He'd encourage his set designers and special effects teams to think differently regarding how they achieved what they needed to. This resulted in upside down takeaway cartons being spray painted and used as panels on the spaceship interior. Over the decades many famous filmmakers would cut their teeth with Roger Corman. Francis Ford Coppola, Ron Howard, James Cameron and Martin Scorsese are just a few of the filmmaking professionals who owe their careers to Corman. Make no mistake, he made a lot of B-movies (crap) did Corman... but one thing you should always remember is he made a career out of it and no doubt had a lot of fun along the way. How many of us can say that about our careers? Rest in peace Mr Corman. Your work here is done. And thank you for Battle Beyond the Stars! #creativity #filmmaking #advertising #creativity #screnwriting #movies #rogercorman

Wow. Wow... WOW..."Horizon: An American Saga (Part 1)" is an extraordinary truly epic 3 hr masterpiece that breathes new life into the Western genre. Kevin Costner's directorial vision and gutsy calls on substance & style shines through in this sweeping tale of American expansion, bringing the untamed frontier to life with stunning cinematography and a deeply immersive atmosphere. Great ensemble cast delivers powerful performances, each character feeling fully realized and integral to the grand narrative. From breathtaking landscapes to intense action sequences, every frame is a testament to Costner's meticulous attention to detail and passion for the era. What truly sets "Horizon" apart is its nuanced exploration of the complex relationships and conflicts that shaped America's westward expansion. The film doesn't shy away from the moral ambiguities of the time, presenting a balanced view of the triumphs and tragedies that defined this pivotal period in history. I was really impressed with the film's rich storytelling, emotional depth, and visual splendor, "Horizon: An American Saga" is not just a movie, but an experience that will leave audiences in awe long after the credits roll. It's a lifetime monumental achievement that cements Costner's legacy as both an actor and filmmaker, and is destined to become a classic of modern cinema. One of the best Western epic genre films ever. Highly recommend! - Phoenix Thottam (Los Angeles, CA)

https://lnkd.in/eFeqhyHc The Tumultuous Dance Between Illusion and Reality: Navigating the Precarious Threshold of Self-Deceptio The transformative power of illusion can metamorphose a human into an extraterrestrial entity, as illusion exerts its formidable influence within the realm of hallucination cinema. When an individual succumbs to an illusion, constructing the cornerstone of existence and demise upon its ephemeral foundation, they teeter on the brink of self-annihilation, a concept meticulously expounded in Marshall Berman's magnum opus, "The Experience of Modernity". As elucidated, this descent commences when empirical veracity is surreptitiously stripped from the psyche, prompting a catastrophic aberration in neural connectivity. In Darren Aronofsky's cinematic masterpiece, "Requiem for a Dream", the harrowing spiral of self-destruction plaguing the protagonists commences with a plunge into the abyss of absolute delusions. The visceral portrayal of this descent into madness stands as a poignant testament to the excruciating depths of human vulnerability and folly. This opus, in my estimation, stands as a paragon of cinematic exploration into the labyrinthine recesses of hallucinatory torment, compelling individuals to traverse a path fraught with imprudence and misguided choices. In truth, as one delves into the cinematic tapestry woven by "Requiem for a Dream", the viewer is impelled to confront the stark reality of human frailty and the insidious allure of illusory constructs. It is a clarion call for introspection and a stark reminder of the precarious precipice upon which humanity precariously perches. As a humble connoisseur of the cinematic arts, I ardently implore all esteemed mentors and venerable elders to revisit this cinematic magnum opus through a fresh lens, for within its haunting frames lies a profound meditation on the fragility of human consciousness and the perilous allure of illusion. The phenomenon of hallucination possesses the ominous capacity to eradicate tangible evidence from the human consciousness, rendering judgment a critical linchpin in the delicate balance of existence. As denizens of the human experience, it behooves us to discern the elusive boundary separating objectivity from subjectivity, for failure to do so heralds the onset of self-deception, a malevolent force capable of unleashing widespread destruction upon the very fabric of our being. Do you REALLY need a gimbal? 🎥 . At his core a gimbal is just a tool that should help to remove shakes from our footage. The market for this device is full of different types of gimbals but my suggestion is going with Dji, which is a brand that have in store every possible type of gimbals! The main reason why I cannot go outside without a gimbal is because is a tool that really help me to create more dynamic shots, especially when I’m recording something that is not moving very fast. Of course there are some other great applications but I manly use as a sort of slider. It’s not everything so good though! Infact especially when you don’t have so much time to film your subject, like on an event, a gimbal can really slow you down. But what about you? Do or you do have other applications to use a gimbal? . #dji #gimbal #filmmaker #ronin #italy
