Roundabout Rules in Traverse City Roundabouts can be tricky, but they're here to stay! 🚦🔄 They keep traffic flowing and reduce the risk of high-speed collisions, but only when navigated correctly. Here's your quick guide to mastering the roundabout: 🔹 Yield to Traffic: Remember, vehicles in the roundabout have the right of way. Always yield to them before entering. 🔹 Choose the Correct Lane: If you're turning right, stay in the right lane; if you're going straight or left, use the left lane. 🔹 Signal Your Exit: Let others know when you plan to leave the roundabout by using your right turn signal. 🔹 No Stopping: Roundabouts are designed for continuous flow. If you miss your exit, complete another loop – don't stop or reverse. 🔹 Pedestrians: They have the right of way at crosswalks. Slow down and be prepared to stop. 🔹 Cyclists: They can choose to ride through the roundabout or walk their bikes across using crosswalks. Embrace the roundabout with confidence and watch how smoothly your journey can be! Drive safely, Traverse City, and let's keep our roundabouts accident-free. 🚗💨 #TraverseCityDriving #RoundaboutRules #MichiganLaw #TrafficLaws #SafeDriving #RoadRules #MichiganAutoAccidents #NavigatingRoundabouts #DrivingTips #RoadSafety

A staggering 70% of road deaths in European cities are vulnerable road users: pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. As such, the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) rightfully concludes in a 2019 report (https://lnkd.in/ebGw7E9) that tackling urban road safety must be a key priority for the European Union and European countries over the next decade. Halfway into that decade, we see the number of fatalities under vulnerable road users increase in most European countries. The lead author of the report, Dovile Adminaite, pointed out the difficulty of resolving the issue: “As long as people don’t feel safe walking and cycling in our towns and cities, many will be discouraged from using the most sustainable modes of transport. This can create a vicious circle because people who take the car instead put all the vulnerable road users around them at greater risk." Creating safe infrastructure that takes into account all potential conflicts between road users contributes to a higher safety. Conversely, Roadscor brings automotive technology to infrastructure design in support of reducing the likelihood and severity of incidents and accidents involving vulnerable road users - especially at urban intersections.
