Eion, an enhanced rock weathering startup, has secured a deal to provide Microsoft with 8,000 tons of permanent CO2 removal. 🌎 Eion’s patented technology uses olivine, a mineral that absorbs CO2 while also improving soil health. This is part of a broader effort to scale carbon removal through natural processes. 🌱 Eion also just announced $3 million in a Series A extension, supported by GROWMARK, Inc., AgFunder, Ridgeline, Trailhead Capital, Overture Partners, Mercator Partners, Exelon Foundation, and others. 💵 This new funding will be used to increase CO2 removal to deliver on contracts and to further R&D efforts. 👍 What do you think of this natural approach to carbon capture? London-based Sorted has done just that with their AI-powered solution for sorting recyclable materials on recycling lines. French clean tech startup Calyxia nets $35M to tackle microplastics pollution. French clean tech startup Calyxia has profitability within sight. The company just raised a $35 million Series B round that will help it further ramp up industrial production of its sustainable alternatives to microparticles and microcapsules, setting it on the path to net profitability by 2026. But co-founder and CEO Jamie Walters says the B Corp is just getting started. The “starter” problem Calyxia is tackling is staggering at global scale: Microplastics are polluting everything around the world, from soils, rivers and beaches to the icy waters of the Arctic — they’re even getting inside our own bodies and brains. Beyond that, the traditional production methods employed by the materials and chemical industries can cause a range of environmental issues. It’s imperative to green up industrial manufacturing processes if we’re to safeguard the environment for future generations and reduce the energy used to make stuff. Walters said Calyxia’s mission for the next five to 10 years is to become the global leader in the microparticles and microcapsules categories.
