Company culture is a set of behaviours that translate into norms and ultimately values. Hygge to me is another way of describing an environment where people can focus on their best work without fear - fear of failing, fear of being judged, fear of making a mistake. It doesn't mean lack of focus on performance or success, in fact it's the opposite - it's striving for excellence without worrying about irrelevant stuff. That's the environment that drives high performance in teams (as well researched by Google in Project Aristotle) - people who feel threatened, unsafe and in competing mode all the time, don't perform to their best potential - logic does sometimes also prevail in research 💡 The vision of a high-performing and a Hygge-type culture is a lifelong journey and a lot depends on people who have the biggest impact on the day-to-day experience of our colleagues - our managers.
