Really curious on my friends and co-workers thoughts here: I've followed podcasts, read articles and talked to mentors on "what is an Eng Manager/Director's job" and it seems like everyone has their thoughts. Some points I've seen recently are things like "letting people go down rabbit holes and not calling out directions that you think will lead to failure". What I keep seeing and asking is "I hear what you're saying, we're not always right but then what exactly are we even here for". I guess the question becomes, if all the advice is saying be more hand off with your team then what do you do and why does your role exist?

Think of your career as a company: You, Inc. You are the CEO. Don't be passive. Don't sit back and let things happen to you. Take charge and ownership of your career. Lead your company to success! This is how I approach my career, and it's one of the key lessons I share with the countless entrepreneurs and operators I talk to. Empowering overwhelmed solopreneurs to clarify their branding strategy through innovative visual mapping so they can confidently connect with their ideal clients. | Consultant | Strategist | Solopreneur | Coach
When a professional decides to rebrand themselves, it often signifies a strategic turning point in their career or personal journey. The PIVOT method provides a comprehensive framework for undertaking this transformative process. The ability to PIVOT is vital when navigating the complex journey of personal rebranding. Each letter of the acronym represents a critical point on the chart to redefining oneself. ‘Prepare’ serves as the groundwork, ‘Investigate’ provides the intelligence, ‘Valuate’ sets the worth, ‘Orient’ directs the journey, and ‘Test’ refines the course. Altogether, they embody an intricate and focused approach that is indispensable for a successful personal reinvention. By harnessing the PIVOT strategy, individuals can embark on their rebranding path with intention, structure, and clarity, ensuring a transition that not only reflects their goals but also addresses the demands and nuances of the evolving professional landscape. Carl Alleyne and I talk about the P.I.V.O.T. method in our podcast: https://lnkd.in/ggbwYunp
