👴🏻Old Chinese people’s life hack: 八段锦 And why the Chinese youth LOVE it!👇 You may have seen senior citizens in China replicating these moves on the street or in the parks... But now - Chinese traditional 八段锦 (Baduanjin) is sweeping over the country! On Little Red Book (Chinese Instagram), its hashtag has gotten 389+ million views 🤯 Plus, this social media platform is largely dominated by the aged 18-35 crowd - so it's totally blowing up among young adults. Can you imagine how many people are practising this thousand-year-old exercise today? Baduanjin has a history dating back to the Song Dynasty, some believe it was created for *military campaigns* to keep soldiers fit & healthy. 🙏 And guess what? It's actually a form of qigong, with many benefits: - Improve body flexibility & coordination - Stress reduction - Help mental clarity Many young Chinese shared that they've just started practising it for a month... and they're already feeling some magical changes in their bodies! e.g. amazing sleep quality, no more back/neck pain Literally the cure to diseases of modern life – no wonder it’s popular among office workers 😀 If you’ve been to China, you’ve probably noticed that many elders do “strange” moves on the street /squares/parks - a common culture there... ---> not only for physical workouts, but also for socialising. ✨ Now, a new *wellness wave* is taking over China, bringing that sense of community back. People value these traditional exercises again– because of their accessibility to all ages/fitness levels, as well as how inclusive they are, requiring no equipment. Are you ready to practise some Baduanjin? Would you like to try this out? Arnold Ma #china #culture #health #fitness
