UNCW’s cybersecurity program is a leader in the field, driven by exceptional individuals who are advancing critical security initiatives to meet the evolving challenges of today’s digital landscape. Phyllis and I look forward to presenting, where we’ll dive into the importance of meeting 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 best practices. As cyber threats continue to evolve, aligning with frameworks like the 𝗖𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀 is essential to ensure that organizations are effectively managing their cybersecurity risks. Reasonable security is not just a checklist—it’s about taking the right steps, tailored to your organization, to mitigate risks effectively. By conducting regular risk assessments and implementing prioritized cybersecurity measures, businesses can reduce vulnerabilities and protect against the most common threats. "If you think about the biggest risk to a security leader, it's a breach—and the breach always starts with a vulnerability. As the security leader, you need to understand your vulnerabilities as quickly as possible, categorize and prioritize their risk to the business, and then remediate based on risk. That’s the problem Dazz is solving. The more automation that you can apply to threat and vulnerability management, the more you know, the more that technology that can assist you in remediation, the faster and better you will be at avoiding breaches." These are golden nuggets from Larry Trittschuh, and one of the reasons why I joined Dazz was because I strongly believe that Dazz is solving a very important and hard security problems - remediation. 🔐 Today, I had the opportunity to attend the "Building Cybersecurity Excellence: Tech, Policy, and People" event in NYC. A huge thank you to IT Brew for bringing together leaders and innovators to discuss the urgent cybersecurity issues facing us today. 💡 One standout session featured former NSA Deputy Director George Barnes, now leading the cybersecurity practice at Red Cell Partners. Barnes shared his insights on pressing topics, including: ✅ The current and evolving vulnerabilities within US infrastructure Election security challenges and preparation ✅ The imminent need to prepare for quantum computing as a potential nation-state tool ✅ The ways cybercriminals are leveraging AI 🌙 And, what "keeps him up at night" in today’s rapidly shifting threat landscape. As cybersecurity professionals, we know the threat landscape changes constantly, demanding a continuous evolution of our defenses.
