I think there is no Software Engineer vs Data Engineer. It's not really about Software Engineers taking our work. I would say Data Engineering is the next logical step from a Software Engineer. I too started as a Software Engineer, learned the typical Software Engineering things like coding, databases, computer networking, and so on. And then I had a problem at work that involved a lot of data, that involved processing a lot of data, storing a lot of data that I wasn't able to do with typical normal systems that I learned. And then I went the "back in the day" Big Data route and got into Data Engineering. And from there, everything picked up. I created a platform, looked into debugging and automation and everything. So it's more of a natural progression than "Oh my God, they're coming to take our jobs". #dataengineer #dataengineering #datascience #bigdata #softwareengineer

Based on my previous post about starting a tech business, what would be the first important hire to ensure your MVP stands a chance? Well, I must say I'm quite surprised in a good way with the results so far which interestingly enough comes from a mixed audience from single contributors all the way to founders. The results indicate that most people would hire a software engineer as their first hire. This makes a lot of sense to a DEGREE as you would need your product to work efficiently. BUT here is my question! (Bear with me) Since we live in a world of DATA..
