The three more important topics in the successful deployment of future satellite solutions and especially D2D services are Spectrum, Spectrum and Spectrum! The global space race is intensifying, with countries like China and Russia making significant strides in their space capabilities. Fortunately, commercial entrepreneurs are also in the race, driving a dramatic transformation of the space industry. This burgeoning space economy, fueled by private investment and technological advancements, holds immense potential to empower tomorrow’s warfighters. Leaders throughout the United States and partner nations are developing commercial integration strategies. To fully realize these strategies, the U.S. needs to invest more than just dollars — it must adopt a forward-thinking approach to spectrum management that encourages collaboration between federal agencies and commercial satellite operators. #DirectToDevice #D2D #5G #6G #UbiquitousConnectivity #NTN #NonTerrestrialNetworks #SatelliteCommunications #apple #iPhone #samsung #connectivity #connectivitymatters #communications #newspace #newspaceeconomy #constellations #satellite #space #satelliteoperatos #satcoms #satellitesystems #telecommunications #spaceindustry #LowEarthOrbit #megaconstellations #esa #eu #europe #resilience #oneweb #starlink #spacex #telesat #globalstar #iridium #qualcomm #att #huawei #ASTSpacemoblie #lynk #internetofthings #development #emergencyresponse #5gnetworks #iris2 #iridium #directtodevice #autonomousvehicles #viasat #tmobile #verizon #vodafone #echostar #amazon #regulatory #spectrum #spectrumsharing #3gpp #5gaa #MNO #MichaelHadjitheodosiou https://lnkd.in/ebN4yVc8

A company had a vision to provide broadband services from LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites to everyday mobile phones. What was the first major test they targeted to realize this vision? They sent a mobile phone into space. What? Not a satellite? Nope. It was simpler and cheaper to send a mobile phone into space and test how it communicated with a satellite on Earth than the opposite approach. Are you thinking about simple, cheap ways to test your ideas? There's a great book on this subject called Testing Business Ideas, by Alexander Osterwalder and David J. Bland.

The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and Federal Communications Commission co-manage the nation’s radiofrequency spectrum and orbital resources, including assignments for space users. NTIA also promotes global connectivity via satellite systems and engages with likeminded partners globally. NTIA works at the International Telecommunication Union to protect the spectrum and orbits they use. Commercial space infrastructure enables connectivity in underserved areas, bridging digital divides. #CommerceInSpace
