🚢🌊 Exciting Advances in Marine Coatings and Sustainability! 🌿✨ Having previously worked at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden on the environmental impact of antifouling technologies (a hat-tip to Philip Chaabane and Emiliano Pinori), I often find myself diving into the latest innovations in this field. One such innovation that caught my eye is Hempel A/S’s high-performance marine coating solution, Hempaguard (see: https://lnkd.in/dsqvFmfP ) Hempaguard, including the advanced Hempaguard X7, offers remarkable fuel savings of up to 20%, accelerating decarbonization efforts in the maritime industry. This silicone-based hull coating, powered by ActiGuard technology, combines advanced hydrogel silicone with an efficient fouling-preventing biocide, prolonging the fouling-free period and boosting the antifouling barrier. Launched in 2013, Hempaguard has revolutionized energy efficiency for vessels worldwide, significantly reducing carbon emissions. The recent third-party validation by DNV - my former employer - objectively confirms its outstanding performance, including up to 20% fuel savings and an average speed loss of only 1.4% (see: https://lnkd.in/dNqrexsQ ). Hempel’s Executive Vice President, Alexander Enström, highlighted a significant milestone: over 4000 applications worldwide, equating to taking approximately 5 million cars off the road in saved CO2e emissions. 🚗💨 Innovations like Hempaguard demonstrate the tangible impact of premium antifouling solutions on sustainability and efficiency in the maritime industry. Kudos to Hempel A/S for leading the way! 👏🌍 How does Hempaguard benchmark against current antifouling technologies in terms of cost and environmental impact, whether they are based on the release of biocides or low-adhesion coatings? #Sustainability #Innovation #MarineCoatings #Decarbonization #EnvironmentalImpact #MaritimeIndustry #Hempel #Hempaguard #DNV #RISE #Antifouling #Selektope #Sweden #Denmark

Sinesto® B has been setting the standard for blue stain protection for 40 years. Since the market entrance on March 15, 1984, Sinesto® B has been the leading product for short-term, preventive protection of sawn timber and wooden pallets. It works very well against blue stain and wood discoloring fungi during drying, storage, or transport. Sinesto® B stands for proven quality, demonstrated effectiveness, and prevents quality loss on freshly sawn timber. Now, in addition to celebrating the 40-year success story of Sinesto® B, Wolman is also celebrating the product authorization received for Germany under the BPR (European Biocidal Products Regulation; Regulation (EU) 528/2012). This confirms the high product performance, safe use and a high level of protection for the health of the workers in production and the sawmills. This also applies to the safe use of the final products for consumers, their children, animals and the environment. Use wood preservatives safely. What is the meaning of rPET Floret? a small rPET flower 1. a small rPET plastic flower: refers to the small plastic flower-like structure formed from the leftover hard bases of rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles found in water bodies worldwide. 2. rPET plastic base serves as a reminder that the rest of the bottle, the rPET polymers, is in the water. Plastic degradation at sea: the global warming ticking bomb. harmful effects associated with the toxicity of its degradation. Plastic emits greenhouse gases from photodegradation by the sun producing ethylene and methane. The more the plastic breaks down the more greenhouse gases is produced. However before plastic breaks down it smothers wildlife, restricting the flow of oxygen and greatly impacting deep water environments. Eating plastic leads to loss of nutrition, internal injury, intestinal blockage, starvation leading to death. The world produces around 350 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. https://lnkd.in/d_jvPBDk

https://lnkd.in/dHxjq8Va Did you know! I'm deeply troubled by the fact that more than 200 million liters of biocide antifoul are carelessly dumped into our sea, coating the bottoms of our boats. The repercussions of this action are heart-wrenching, as each boat alone releases around 5.6 million microplastics into the ocean every year. It's imperative that we put an end to this harmful practice and instead adopt safe, non-toxic nano technology coatings. We owe it to our precious marine ecosystem to make this change immediately. Switch to non toxic nano technology coatings. Arivo.online

Did you know the average lifespan of a synthetic turf sports field is about 8-12 years depending on maintenance? When it’s time for replacement, RE4ORM recovers and recycles the old synthetic turf. Not only does this reduce waste to landfill, but it gives valuable resources like sand and rubber a new life, so it's a win win for the Australian environment! #RE4ORM #closedlooprecycling #circulareconomy

At the Synthetic Turf Council (STC) Annual Conference 2024, held in Phenix on 28-30 October, Stefan Diderich (Director General/ CEO of ESTC (EMEA Synthetic Turf Council) ) highlighted how the synthetic turf industry can proactively embrace sustainability through the Product Environmental Footprint (#PEF). This standardized Life Cycle Assessment allows companies to calculate and compare the environmental impact of their products. 👉 Why PEF? ☑️ Drives Industry Sustainability: Companies gain insights to reduce their environmental footprint. ☑️ Supports Green Procurement: Decision-makers can prioritise sustainable options based on PEF data. PEF empowers the synthetic turf industry to make measurable progress toward a sustainable future. #sustainableturf #environmentalimpact #syntheticturf

What is the Holy Grail in the Car Wash Industry? In the world of car washing, the “Holy Grail” isn’t just about clean cars—it’s about achieving operational efficiency, sustainability, and innovation. One of the biggest challenges lies in reclaim water systems: managing water quality, odor, foam, and bio mass buildup while keeping the entire process environmentally friendly and cost-effective. At Arcadian Services, we’re pioneering new approaches to tackle these challenges head-on. From innovative products like Reclaim Defender 2G / 2F “Bio-SludgeBan” which breaksdown and organic sludge that builds up in the bottoms of the separator tanks to our 1G/1F “ Bio Vorax which clarifys and consumes surfactants along with nutrients in the reclaim water which darkens the water and leaves a haze on the car which can’t be removed with car wash chemistry. Let Arcadians Reclaim Defender product line show you how this low cost simple solution will bring you to the promised land with clean, odor free multi use reclaim water. #systainable # chemical free # microbiology
