Director of Pre-Sales @ Jaid | AI | FinTech | CSR Lead | Future Leader Role Model for HERoes Women Role Model Lists by INvolve and Yahoo Finance | Women in FinTech Powerlist | Board Member of WIAS & Waves Music Therapy
💡 I dropped out of studying Medicine at university, had no clue what I wanted to do, and earned the prestigious title of "Family Disappointment of the Year"... But here’s the thing: even if you’re not sure where you’re headed, a path WILL unfold for you. #WomenInTechWeek feels like the perfect moment for me to share how a winding path can still be a path to success and why we need more women in tech. 💻✨ *So what happened?* After dropping out of doing Medicine, I switched to studying Natural Sciences (bio, chem, maths, and economics)—clearly still unsure of my life’s direction. It wasn’t until my computer-heavy master’s that I realised my interest in tech. One of my first roles in the industry was at Calastone, a FinTech, where I worked across Operations, Technology, Client Delivery, and the Commercial team—getting a 360° view of the business. That experience laid the foundation for everything that came after. And that was just the start. I’ve grown by constantly learning and surrounding myself with great mentors—brilliant women like Kate Webber, Laura Mann , Lorna Glynn and more recently, Lauren Hayes and Kelly Mathieson, who have guided me and continue to guide me through key moments in my career. Moving through different roles helped me gain a deep understanding of the tech behind financial services. Now, as Director of Presales at Jaid, I get to work with AI to drive digital transformation for financial institutions using all the skills I've learnt over the years. Being not only a woman in tech, but also a Black woman, all while managing a bipolar disorder, has brought its fair share of challenges. It’s been a journey of resilience and I’ve often leaned into my community for support. But every challenge brings a unique perspective that I’m proud to use my voice and my platform to share. *Ok, ok, Chim, but how do we support more women in tech???* We need to focus on mentorship, flexible work policies, and intentional diversity at the leadership level. It’s not just about creating a seat at the table—it’s about making sure everyone has a voice. *Chim’s Top Tip* Build your tribe. Seek mentors. And always remember—you belong in every room you step into. #womenintech #womenintechweek #fintech #technology #womeninstem #DEI #diversity #inclusion #wearetechwomen Thank you WeAreTechWomen for encouraging me to share my story!

As a mentor for Women in Tech, virtual platforms have proven invaluable in enhancing mentorship opportunities for female professionals in the technology sector. This accessibility is particularly beneficial for women in regions where in-person resources may be limited due to societal norms or other factors. Moreover, virtual mentorship facilitates flexible scheduling, allowing for the harmonization of professional development and personal commitments – a critical factor for fostering an inclusive environment conducive to growth. These platforms frequently provide comprehensive resources, including educational materials, networking prospects, and support forums, cultivating a holistic ecosystem for the advancement of women in technology. By leveraging virtual platforms, mentors can impart guidance, share experiences, and offer counsel tailored to the unique challenges faced by their mentees, empowering them to overcome barriers and thrive in their respective technology careers. Ultimately, these digital avenues democratize access to mentorship, propelling the representation and success of women in the ever-evolving technological landscape.

Our students show us again and again that it’s possible to have purpose, passion and profit interwoven into one project or initiative. Their project RecyPro, is not only solving a major problem for the society and planet, but they’ve been able to see potential where everybody else sees a problem, an important skill we try to develop in our young students at EarlyFounders Labs. Somewhere in our curriculum, we have a module dedicated to studying problems. We like to use to #UNSDGs to give our students a big-picture overview of global problems. These girls owned one of these problems, ideated around it and came up with a solution which will potentially make money for them. The more founders we can activate at an early age, the better our society, economy and future. #TheEarlyFoundersStory

💩 💩 💩 💩 LinkedIn posts blaming VCs for not investing in female founders are complete BS. 💩 💩 💩 💩 The biggest BS is to say that the root cause is deriving from the fact that most VCs are male... I personally fully support the cause: It's a noble cause to highlight the problem of female founders AND employees being underrepresented in the tech scene. But they are pointing to the wrong problems. The problem is often framed to be rooted in discrimination against female founders. But that simply is not the root cause. The argument doesn't hold ground because it's pointing to the end of the pipeline and not where the problem really is. I am not trying to say that there is no discrimination amongst VCs towards female founders. Perhaps there is... But it's harmful to simply frame it as a male-dominated structural problem. Mari Luukkainen did a fantastic job looking closer into this finding out that female founders are already underrepresented amongst the applications (only 14%). The problem starts even MUCH earlier in school where female students are not being encouraged to pick career paths in tech. I remember that in my computer science course in uni out of almost 70 students only 2 were female and you see similar trends across the board in the STEM field. If you genuinely want to solve problems than be honest and transparent about them.
