Her company’s use case highlighted how quantum could be used in space satellite control centers. She introduces the audience to GMV’s CUCO project, an initiative funded by the Spanish government and European Union, to explore strategic applications of quantum technologies in critical sectors like energy, finance, space defense, and logistics. Through the collaboration of private and public partners, the research team has been exploring data encoding and problem modelling through quantum machine learning and combinatorial #optimization. These techniques were then applied in the context of Earth observation mission planning, an example of a highly complex problem. The project EPIQUE (#european #photonic #quantum #computer ) consits of 17 members including #NASK (#poland ), which contributed with €240K. #EPIQUE is going to develop three #QC prototypes that will demonstrate essential building blocks of generating and fusing #quantum states to #entangle >10 qubits, and critical measurement and feedforward capabilities required to scale the platform to >1000 qubits. Recent years have witnessed a step-change in the scale, complexity, and scope of QC with photons which recently led to 3 out of the 4 demonstrations of quantum advantage from Canadian and Chinese groups. Europe also shows strong leadership in development of integrated optical QC platforms, with breakthroughs in the development of high transmission dense photonic chips, record efficiency detectors and deterministic single photon sources.
