Green Farm 4 All --> 🥦From seed to table: discover your food's story 📸 Agriculture storytelling through aerial and ground photography services 🐉Growing dragon fruits
Ag-Bee LLC is an agriculture spraying company founded five years ago by Briana Layfield. Its home base is in Temecula, California. Several weeks ago, I enjoyed hanging out with Briana and their chief pilot and operation manager, Nate Nouwels. Nate had just finished uploading a firmware update on their XAG P100. This prompted testing at their regular testing field to ensure everything was in order before going on the road. So, I got to see firsthand how this huge drone takes flight! I took all my media with my cell phone. There was a lot of wind, so my Mavic and Sony camera sadly stayed in the car. Ag-Bee's operations span across the diverse agricultural crops of California, a state that cultivates food all year round. They spray more than food crops and are involved in such missions as fire abatement and mosquito control. The P100 is a versatile piece of equipment weighing approximately 100 pounds without any payload. It can accommodate a container designed for either a granular or a liquid payload. The liquid container has a capacity of up to 50L (13.2 gallons), while the granular container can hold a volume of 80L (21.1 gallons). Each container is fairly easily interchangeable. The P100 has a top speed of about 30mph. While the specs provide the limit of the agriculture drone, it's important to note that the mission parameters are influenced by many factors. These include the terrain, weather, wind speed, the type, and the concentration of what you are spraying, among others. I will be putting the finishing touch on my interview with Briana Layfield to give a better sense of their use of spraying drones and their journey to today’s successful company. #agbee #agbeespray #agriculturedrone #agriculture #sustainableagriculture #pegasusroboticsinc #xag_official #agriculturesprayingdrone #sustainablefarming #precisionagriculture #advancingagriculture #xag #xagp100pro #agdrone #spraying

The #electrification of farming equipment has started with #drones. Currently, nearly 100% of #American farms already use drones to gather information on crop health during the season. It used to be that a subset of farms could afford aerial overflights by fixed wind or helicopter crop survey services - but efficient electric tools are surveying (and #farming) more affordable than ever. DJI Terra for Spot Spraying Prior to Integrated Aerial Precision , the closest I've been to Agriculture was Secondary school and it was so because it was an elective, and also an alternative to Food and Nutrition which didn't interest me. Another time was in 200level in school but it doesn't count because I suffered more than I learned. Since my new role, I've become more familiar with crop terms and a few processes that help optimize the day to day farm work that we know. One of them is the use of big sprayer drones to spray insecticides to ward off pests or even to spray seeds for planting. This is a huge relief from the normal knapsack spraying. The interesting part for me of course is analysis using different indices (NDVI, GLI, OSAVI etc). These will better inform on the state of the farm and infer the right chemicals to use pertaining to the needs of the farm at that moment. The app helps to create flight plans that guide the drones to specific parts of the farm either to increase farm yield or reduce pests. Analysis can be done from time to time with data captured in form of a time series for monitoring purposes. You have to see that what you're doing is working and if it's not, analysis will expose that. Overall, It's a big learning curve, one that I'm happy to be on and at the same time getting the support I need. #dronemapping #djiagriculture #geospatialanalysis
