Cancer or Cuts? An unfamiliar question right? For decades, cocoa farming in Ghana has thrived on traditional methods, ensuring community cohesion, equitable wealth distribution, and a natural way of life. But now, mechanisation as a technological advancement is being marketed as the key to efficiency and prosperity. Yet, I ask: Are we truly advancing, or are we replicating the very crises that the West is struggling to fix? Mechanisation promises efficiency, but does it strip farmers of their pricing power, isolate them from their communities, and make them dependent on Western technology? Junk food didn’t exist until industrialisation changed how people worked. Now, fitness industries profit from the health crisis that followed. Are we seeing the same pattern in cocoa farming, where technology "solves" one problem but creates new ones that become profit centers for someone else? What if the push for mechanisation is not about making the farmer rich but about making them isolated enough to become targets for the next economic extraction model? MEDP by EDII empowers rural women in South India. Revathi, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, was introduced to fish dehydration techniques during her MEDP training. Inspired by this newfound knowledge, she wasted no time and promptly initiated her own venture. Establishing a dehydration fish unit in Bandarkota, she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey. Through her business endeavors, she not only supports her family but also contributes towards essential expenses like school fees and groceries. IMPAct4Nutrition (I4N) Platform is delighted to onboard GUJARAT LIVELIHOOD PROMOTION COMPANY LTD (GLPC) as its pledged partner. Through #I4N technical expertise, #GLPC shall work closely with I4N secretariat for its Project ‘Jeevika Saathi’ which will be implemented in 2 aspirational Blocks of #Gujarat - #Nandod (#Narmada), #Garbhada (#Dahod). Dahod and Narmada are two of those districts where I4N secretariat did intense deep dive last year and as an outcome of the same came out with some of evidence based gaps & needs from those districts. Some of those gaps and needs are expected to be fulfilled by this technical collaboration of I4N and its pledged partner GLPC through this project. This initiative is supported by a consortium of Gujarat Gas Limited , and the @Socio Economical Transformation and Upliftment Society (SETU). 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐲 Each issue in India's complex web of social problems needs to be tackled through localised solutions that keep the community at the center. Through multiple conversations with the tribals of the Dangi region, partners identified one such issue which was at the time not a core intervention area for the NGO working in this region. The mothers and teachers consistently spoke of their children not being as tall and broad as their husbands! Partners through their networks helped surface this problem by brainstorming with the NGO practical solutions that could immediately be implemented and target 3 problems: consumption of locally grown produce, supplementary employment for women and natural nutritional fortification for the children. Bringing in expert connects to develop the recipe and putting funds for periodic assessments meant monitoring progress and building feedback loops for course-correction became an integral part of scaling this effort. After reviewing 15 lac suggestions the BJP Manifesto was “crafted” which in Kodis words is a gold standard for global economies to draw inspiration from. This Manifesto aims to elevate the Dignity of life while improving quality of life and simultaneously providing Qualitity of opportunities along with quantity of opportunities. It goes a step further to address the aspirations of the youth by providing for jobs that add value in the Infrastructure, start ups and global delivery centres Some salient features highlighted are reviewed below 1. Continue with providing free ration to 80 cr people for another 5 years while ensuring satiety nourishment and affordability. The Grain votes will remain intact with the BJP 2. Expand availability of Jan Aushadi network while ensuring medication is available at 80% discount. 3. Include 70+ elderly population under the cover of Ayushman Bharat. Transgenders to also be included This will further add to the vote bank. 4. In addition to the 3 cr houses built another 4 cr will be constructed in Modi 3.0 Consolidate the garib vote. 5. While building thiruvaluvar Culture Centres, making Tamil, the worlds oldest language, a global language will be the priority. This should put to an end the effort to break South India away from the Republic once and for all. 6. From Gas cylinders to piped gas is the next level of Sankalp to provide even cheaper gas to the poor. 7. The Suryaghar Yojana already has 1 cr registrations and this will help reduce electricity bills to zero while also providing avenues for income stream from selling the renewable power generated to the grid. In addition home e charging will give fillip to the purchase of EV bikes and spear head the EV charging business. This a new ecosystem is now being given birth. 8. The Svanidhi Yojana for hawkers will be expanded to pan India level while increasing the interest free credit to 50000+. 9. 10 cr women through Self help groups to be given training in IT, Education, Health and retail industries providing them with more job opportunities. Enhance lakhpati didis to 3 cr. Encourage women Drone pilots thereby revolutionising technology with agriculture Women players to be provided with special programs while Cervical Cancer liberation programme to be launched on war footing. 10. For farmers accelerate the implementation of the National Cooperative Policy. Emphasis on Dairy and making India a Global Nutrition Hub for ShriAnna. Setting up Rural clusters for food processing and storage. Promote sea weed and pear fisheries. Maximise nanourea usage. Make India food processing hub for the world leading to the growth of the rural growth engine. 11. Make India a global Tourist destination. Currently an online competition for ranking India’s tourist destinations is in progress. Once completed several destinations would be picked up and made part of the India Heritage to be further included in the global heritage.
