I just hired a senior associate for Lawlace. Thanks to my LinkedIn network, it took only 2 weeks. Here is the process 👇 🎯 Get clear on what you need. I needed high-quality talent from a top law firm with specific experience working with startups and VC funds. Being clear on the required experience allowed me to quickly review applications. Our new hire is ex-Fenwick, with experience at AngelList and Carta, and now joins the Lawlace team. 🌟 Promote your brand. Selling your vision to a candidate is crucial; it's a mutual buy-in. That's one of the main reasons I build in public and share my founder journey. To attract high-quality, like-minded talent, clients, and investors, start preparing long before you need to hire. All my hires came from my network and social media, saving money on recruiters and time on searching. 📝 Ask for references. I requested 2 references from supervisors. When speaking with them, ask about the candidate's strengths and weaknesses to understand which parts of the job the candidate can own and where you may need to provide supervision. 🤝 Interview. I conducted the first interview, and the second was done by my advisor, who worked for 10 years at Cooley and is now an associate general counsel at a top-tier VC fund. My advisor picked up on things that weren't obvious to me, so involve your team members in the interview process. 🧠 Trust your gut. After gathering all the information, trust your instincts. If something feels off, even if you can't pinpoint it, it's worth exploring further or reconsidering the candidate. #lawlace #hiring #legaltech #startupfounder #startuplawyer
