Koskisen Oyj and Lab University of Applied Sciences have teamed up for the Koskisen Wood Wisdom Challenge event, offering students a chance to present innovative ideas for the benefit of Koskisen's business and valuable learning experiences. Pitch Day on December 13 and Evaluation Criteria: Business Potential: • Evaluate short-term (1-3 years) potential. • Consider feasibility in the short term. • Assess innovativeness in the business model, product, etc. • Validate the business model. Teamwork: • Evaluate internal team collaboration. • Ensure equal participation within the team. • Assess efforts towards understanding and sharing ideas. Pitching: • Assess clarity of the concept's value to Koskisen. • Evaluate teamwork visibility in the pitch. • Adherence to the 15-minute time limit. • Look for the "WOW factor." This event provides participants with an opportunity to showcase innovation, teamwork, and clear communication skills. FAME POCKET CARD ACTIVITY: VISUAL WORKPLACE ORGANIZATION/5S Continuing a ground-level exploration of the FAME AMT program as it develops students in Lean principles and practices. First, a brief overview of the Pocket Card activity: -Students carry pocket-sized cards focusing on key points of a Lean practice -Over the 16-week semester their are three "milestone" outcomes to achieve: ----- 1. Always have the Pocket Card on their person (2 weeks to achieve) ----- 2. Memorize the card beyond the hesitancy level (4 weeks to achieve) ----- 3. Explain real application with deep understanding (8 weeks to achieve) The 8-week goal in a 16 week semester is intended to accelerate their understanding so that they can better perform their hands-on projects, both on the school campus but especially at their workplace, where they have projects assigned that align with their learning. Throughout the semester, college instructors continually assess student progress with 1-on-1 interactions as seen in this video. This 7:28 video (for those who want to watch that long) shows a typical interaction. It's real and not staged. I was at the campus and did not know at what level this particular student would perform. The student is @Noel Carmac. ... Big Picture - in the FAME AMT program we are training people in Lean at the beginning of their careers as part of their initial school education. This work/learn college program has a deep technical component as well as a thorough treatment of professional behaviors (soft skills). Students take five full courses in Lean, of which this is the second. Every graduate carries this initial training into their company - participating companies have a powerful feeder of Lean talent that grows with every new class.
